I have many friends who volunteer in our local NAMI, and that's something that I would eventually like to get involved in. It is so, so important. Thank you so much for the work you are doing.
The vast majority of people here are so kind, caring, and compassionate, even to strangers, it gives me hope that humans aren't completely horrible as recent events have made me believe (and have really done a number on my mental health, increasing my depression and anxiety).
And thanks so much for these kind words. You don't know how much I appreciate them right now (even though I'm not in a horrible place, like I have been in the past).
No joke. And no argument from me. It boggles me that the "boyz with TOYS!!* contingent is so enormous -- and sadly, Himself has to be included in that. He's been a collector & target shooter since he was 12, taught by his namesake grandad. At least they're all stored under lock and key in a separate, highly secure building. But still. ~le sigh~ .
They must have no memory. Even 20 years ago there wasn't a general feeling that everybody had to have lots of guns. I guess hunters had them but, they just had them. They didn't talk about them all day. I can't see why they'd have felt threatened by an "assault weapons ban."
Feeble feeble feeble with their genial smiles, pink skin and white hair. There seem to be a million of them. And if they're ever challenged they give some explanation that's so implausible and so ignorant you know they have the world's very lowest IQ's. Then you hear they went to Harvard. Then you realize they're stupid somehow anyway, or they think regular people are stupid and they don't actually care about anything but just keeping that genial smile on their pink faces. When I lived in North Carolina, my drs and dentists were all that kind of person.
There have always been collectors and enthusiasts, even amongst people who are pacifist/non-resistant conscientious objector type folk. But, as you say, often they were hunters (and/or history buffs). Himself is a collector, in a small way -- and he fer shure owns several guns that hold only historical value -- you couldn't hit what you were aiming at with any of them. :/
Yeah, this mania for the 2nd Amendment "it's mah RAHT!! to own assault- weapons " is crazy, and also bullshit of the purest ray serene.
My house growing up had a wall covered with guns. My father was a big military man so it was just all part of 'war.' It never occurred to me that they were live weapons even. But now I think guns give meaning to peoples' lives. If you think there are people around who claim we live "under maritime law" because the "ship" in citizenship means-- like-- a sea-going ship-- that person is really desperate to feel they have some kind of expertise. And guns-- just consider the expertise guns offer. It's just too bad they KILL people the way they do.
That's all you're talking about, maybe you lose an election. Who cares?
That's very true. On the other hand, if enough of them lose an election, they lose their fever dream of a white nationalist theocracy, so... that's kinda big. That's been the project for how many decades now? To the Repubs, that is, then, Kind of a Big Deal.
I am surprised in a way that no republicon has come forward with the argument that they believe Trump did nothing wrong and a through and fair investigation will prove it. Its seems like a way to have the worlds best chocolate cake and eat it too. But on the other hand, it does have an aspect of subtlety to it and MAGAts don't do subtle.
Seems like there are a lot of people walking around with guns and Texas is making sure even more can carry them. This is not my country anymore if it ever was.
They didn't care about "grab them by the *****", so they won't give a crap about a 20 year old tape of Pendejo screaming racial epithets or even being pissed on by #PeeHookers.

Agree 100 percent! they are not fooling anyone. Bill Kristol can kiss my butt. Same with Joe Scarborough and the rest.
I would rather be on the demand-side of that.

At least they are acknowledging that their real death fear isn't Hillary Clinton.

Ronald Reagan once said that “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."
Just for some perspective, he also said that Medicare would take away our freedom.
Republicans: Fucked around and found out.
Y'all unleashed the MAGA hoards, now you're stuck with them.

Does anyone ever ask these people what they mean when they say "real Americans"?
