It’s just a little bit.

Liz, it's Pesach. Wine with dinner. Maybe Slivovitz after.

Been doing some digging, and yes, Midge (and essentially anyone else shitting themselves over these so-called "vaccine passports") is a windowlicker:

https://www.vox.com/recode/...

Basically, this is going to be handled like *everything else* here in the U.S.:

1. Partisan squabbling at the Federal level

resulting in:

2. A (ridiculous) "moral panic" ginned up by Republicans

resulting in:

3. A haphazard morass of States and "participating private entities" cobbling together a morass of (most likely incompatible) systems which all do basically the same thing, but which *all* end up doing it slightly diffrently

The truly amusing thing about this is the tacit assumption that most people will *want* to go back to pre-Covid "normal" in terms of stuff like bricks and mortar schools/grocery shopping, movie theaters, bars/nightclubs, huge "celebrity" concerts, etc.

What is *also* amusing about this whole shitstorm is the fact that Right-Whingers *aren't* trying to gin up their idiot "base" about things like the flu vaccine, polio, tetanus "shots", etc.

https://listverse.com/2015/...

The only good thing about this, is that it will probably end up distracting RIght-Whingers from their *previous* idiotic moral panics (the Potato head thing, and the Dr. Seuss thing).

Plus - and I know this is probably wishful thinking - the "vaccine passport" thing just might be spooooooky enough to make some Right-Whingers have heart attacks/strokes over it. (If they're dead, they don't vote).

Fuck the GQP.

Actually, my wife and I lived in Florida for 10 years, and it *was* enforced at least some places.

(To be fair, some of what was classified as "shoes" tended to be more like flip-flops/open-toed high heels etc., but....yeah).

Really, the only thing I genuinely disliked about Florida was the fact that my wife made the mistake of befriending a woman who *then* basically "love-bombed" us into attending some kinda weirdo Fundie "church" which rented space at a local funeral home.

That was kinda tedious after a while, but my wife couldn't bring herself to disengage from her "friend".

Some day I hope some grad student or university does research on cat neurological conditions (there's precious little been done already -- I've checked). I have a cat who paces back and forth, is partially crippled -- her back legs don't work completely right -- she can barely walk and definitely not jump, and she has impaired vision. The vet thinks she's not completely blind, but no one has been able to determine how much vision she might have. And all this is because when she was spayed she stopped breathing on the table for 5 minutes. She nearly died and her brain was deprived of oxygen for that time. She was a lot worse immediately afterward -- she had to learn everything a kitten learns all over again -- how to regulate body temperature, eat, drink, everything. But she was left with some things she was never able to get over.

So I hear you. It's sad and even angering when kitties get hurt by things that are supposed to help them or at least not be dangerous for them.

"Is it too early to start drinking yet?"No! Glad I could be of assistance.

Oh yeah, didn't mean to suggest that you were supporting the bad faith Republican attacks. It's just unfortunate that we can't have these meaningful debates and discussions at a policy level because all they do is fear monger and we're all worse off for it.

DeathSantis says he is going to do an executive order telling businesses that they can't refuse service if you don't have vax proof. Or he wants the legislature to do something. Or both. https://kfoxtv.com/news/nat...

I will admit to not having actually lived through the horrors of Nazi Germany myself, having been born in America several years after the WWII ended and not Jewish, either.

However, and from my admittedly limited personal experience, if there has been an American President who has resembled Hitler to some extent, and I think there is, I don't believe that Joe Biden is that President.

What is the Venn diagram showing the intersection of the paranoid bullshit and people who get forehead tattoos and post videos of themselves in clothing that identifies their employment and exact location?

I'm betting they are nearly complete completely homeomorphic.

snark aside, and dammit that I can't find the link anymore because that was many computers ago, but I found a paper once that explored the psychology behind the relationship of cults, conspiracy theorists, and religion and I think there there was something else but I forgot. there's so much going on at once and when you see it spelled out, you suddenly realize that this shit is no laughing matter and how easy it for anyone to get sucked into the upside down.

we are one weird species, we humans.

Quantum tracking devices sound cool. I want one. And if it could hold music, too, that would be great. Oh, and send and receive voice and text messages. Maybe access to the internet?

And, since it's a tracking device, I'd like access to that as well to give me directions to my destinations when driving.
