We all know that the Republican Party consists mainly of homophobic, xenophobic, racist-to-varying-degrees, warring-on-women assholes, right? This is FACT and SCIENCE, and other things that liberals accept and Republicans deny. But just how homophobic is the GOP? So much so that the organization that tries to get more LGBT acceptance in the Republican party, GOProud, is giving up, finally acknowledging that Republicans are
Working class Republicans are voting against their own economic self-interest, but -- if they have really strong feelings about social issues (that is, they are some type of bigot) -- they may feel that their principles are more important than their personal economic welfare. Or they may just be stupid.
Gay Republicans, OTOH, may well be voting for their economic self-interest (a working-class gay Republican would be quite a find). They do this despite the fact that the vast majority of their fellow Republicans would like them to die, or at least become completely invisible.
