I think he was poorly used on the old SNL. They didn't know how to either work in a Black comedian or a comedian who happened to be Black.

That bit - hilarious, of course, and like the classic routines it got funnier the more times they ran it - was great because it had nothing to do with him being Black.

In hindsight, many of the bits were racist without meaning to be or, often, while trying not to be.

Eddie Murphy told Chris Rock he needed to get out of the group sketches and into individual routines to make it on SNL. Garret Morris paved the way for both of them.

It's not like those people who actually understand Spanish are also going to listen to the speech in English.

Don't be sexist! The six people who found Mike Lee and Rand Paul's responses report that they too got their start in politics at McDonald's, dropped out of college, and love America.

Ah well, the official opposition response is always just scripted sound bites. What else can they do? It's not like the White House circulates the text in advance or anything.

However, this time we were fortunate to get the real GOP rebuttal from freshman Congressman Randy Weber, representing Saturn's 4th district. An exciting new star in the Republican firmament!
