Ted Cruz is wrong, again. Schumer was not "about to surrender." Instead, McConnell blinked. Schumer can afford to play a few brinkmanship games. We already know that when Republicans threaten to shut down the government for pointless partisan games, they suffer.
And Schumer will do it again in December. He'd love to use this issue as the wedge to crack the Filibuster, and it might just happen, if Senate Republicans continue being stupid and rebuff McDonnell the next time he does the sensible thing.
