Bamz care is coming. Bamz care is coming! BAMZ CARE IS COMING! If you're not an idiot or an incredibly rich person that just buys new body parts when the old ones wear out, you've probably been sorta kinda digging the fact that maybe you could buy insurance and not be cockblocked from coverage because once you had a pre-existing condition like a hangnail. You've probably been grooving on the fact that even if you freelance or are jobless, you don't have to play the "doctor's visit or food" game quite as often. But that is because you are not a terrible person and are not the modern-day GOP:
With the Obama administration poised for a huge public education campaign on healthcare reform, Republicans and their allies are mobilizing a counter-offensive including town hall meetings, protests and media promotions to dissuade uninsured Americans from obtaining health coverage.
Wow. This seems like an uphill battle at best. How will the GOP persuade people to go against their self-interest and gleefully refuse insurance? By pretty much stone-cold lying:
Americans for Prosperity launched a $1 million TV ad campaign against the healthcare law this summer to test its message in swing states of Virginia and Ohio. The 30-second ad presents a young pregnant mother who asks questions that suggest the law will raise premiums, reduce paychecks, prevent people from picking their own doctors and leave her family's healthcare to "the folks in Washington."
The group plans a bigger push on TV and social media to persuade young people, especially men under 30, to see the healthcare law as a high-cost liability directed at them.
Yeah, not being forced to have icky controlling insurance is just the freedom that all young mothers seek. Smart take! While everything is still up in the air regarding actual premiums, the possibility exists that young men could see an increase in premiums, because right now insurers dick over the olds and the ladies because they theoretically cost more. Most rational people understand this risk-spreading concept to be a good thing, but most rational people are not Republicans.
Since you can't appeal to people's sane side with the "insurance sucks" idea, perhaps you need to try to convince them that not having insurance is like a cool hipster thing to do? Being uninsured is like riding a fixie or living in Brooklyn.
"We're trying to make it socially acceptable to skip the exchange," said Dean Clancy, vice president for public policy at FreedomWorks, which boasts 6 million supporters. The group is designing a symbolic "Obamacare card" that college students can burn during campus protests.
Yes, college kids. College kids who are most likely planning to take advantage of that Bamzcare provision that lets them leech off Mommy and Daddy until age 26 should definitely be at the vanguard of sticking it to the man. Also, too, burning a fake symbolic thing that will get you in no trouble whatsoever for doing it is EXACTLY like burning your draft card except that the latter had pesky consequences like jail. One can only hope that these bright young things will flee to Canada to avoid the heavy hand of the government, just like their fathers did in their day. There's certainly no socialized gubmint healthcare THERE that will get in the way of their sweet sweet freedom. Fare thee well, dumbasses.

Sigh. WTF is wrong with these people?
Ah yes. All of them, Katie.
Oh good. With any luck I'll be dead before I have to figure out what "cisgender" is.
