"Feinberg said he found it strange that Trump asked him to identify himself during the exchange, given their history. The question “was odd because he had definitely recognized me earlier when he winked at me as Vance delivered remarks earlier in the event,” he wrote. “I’ve been around him in the Oval, aboard Air Force One and elsewhere countless times over the decade I’ve covered him, and we’ve even spoken on the phone on a number of occasions.”

Feinberg also explained how the confrontation appeared to have unfolded: “Trump appeared to point to me more than once, but on each occasion he had apparently intended to call on the Agence France-Presse reporter directly behind me. Because from my vantage point he was pointing directly at my face, I started to speak up. He didn’t like that.”"

I happened to hear a story on NPR while driving yesterday. It was about the bribe payout to farmers. At least they had one farmer who said he usually voted R but would not this time. Then they brought on another guy who calmlysaid, yeah, I'm going to vote republican. He said we had to give the guy a chance to finish what he had started, or some such shit, and said Trump was a "businessman" who knew what he was doing. His voice did not sound like he was a a crazed MAGA, and I couldn't see him because radio, but the words -- SHIT, BUDDY.

I think Aaron Rupar has a mashup of this press conference where they pieced together all the times he’s got cranky with all the journalists. Gramps was especially cranky yesterday. Someone must have withheld his pudding pop.

I have stopped trying to talk to my sister about politics. However, she brought up Trump in our last conversation and said she was confused by him. She used to be a supporter. I gently suggested, "What if he's not playing 4-D chess--what if he's just eating the pieces?"

And I was thrilled that she conceded that I could be right.

This is huge for her.

"I'm going to be fighting fraudZZZZZZZZ ..."

God forbid the media mention that he can't stay awake during the day. It would be in poor taste to point out how the ravages of age affect a president.

"On Monday, a reporter put to Trump that French President Emmanuel Macron “is blaming the Iran war and you, essentially, for the rioting in France right now.” “I don’t think he is. No, I think that’s fake news,” Trump curtly responded.

The president then reached for a familiar playbook, asking which outlet the reporter worked for. He often uses the question to tee up an attack on the journalist and their organization as “fake news” or liars. “Who are you with?” Trump asked.

But when the reporter identified herself as The Daily Wire’s White House correspondent, Mary Margaret Olohan, Trump immediately changed his tune. Putting up a hand as if to shield his apology, Trump added: “Sorry, Daily Wire is good,” before walking away, then returning to call Macron “a friend of mine” and blame immigration for the unrest, despite officials putting it down to left-wing movements."

OT brain thingie.

The mommy blog post about Vivek Ramaswamy's shitty campaign ad against Amy Acton affected me deeply yesterday and I spent some time mediating upon the source of my distress

One issue troubled me more deeply than just the nihilism the ad demonstrated: Vivek Ramaswamy reminds me of someone. I could not pinpoint who that person was yeterday. But the mists parted today and I realized who it was that Vivek most resembled. It was someone from the world of comic books. Vivek Ramaswamy very much resembles one of the Hulk's most annoying foes.

I don't know what the context here is, exactly, but I'm not sure it matters. The point is he has this bizarre obsession with violence and gore. Per Aaron Rupar:

Trump: "He violently slashed her neck. Almost cut her head right off. Slashed it violently & viciously. For those people who are able to handle that kind of stuff you know exactly what I'm talking about. Very rarely do you see it run behind the actual ... Her head was barely attached"

What are the odds that was part nostalgia, and, as always, part confession?

I'd bet Michael Cohen knows.

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Nah. Trump would never get his hands dirty like that, being a germophobe as well as a lazy entitled prick. It is 100% wish.

Lumpy Tapioca's avatar

He likes to watch, and always has a fall guy for his dirty.

PrimerGray's avatar

He's not a germaphobe. He just says that.

YaJagoff's avatar

He's too much of a slob to be a germaphobe.

Maybe, even 'Ol Roy Cohen.

The one time I actually had my mouth washed out with soap was when I was about 7 and complained that my eyes made me look like a (word starting with m I won’t use in this context).

PrimerGray's avatar

That happened to me when I was 9 and playfully slapped my brother on the back and said jovially, "Hey, Derek, ya fuckin' asshole, how ya doin'?" Before I knew what was happening, my mom had me in the bathroom and "brushed my teeth" with a bar of soap. I couldn't feel my definition of my teeth when she was through. I didn't vomit or get sick but I never swore with my folks around, even up until they passed when I was 26.

Does it mean anything if El Paso's early voting turnout is 90% higher than in 2022?

Hopefully they aren't voting for Paxton!

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

I've been holding judgement on how the Dems do in this election. But I find it absolutely impossible to believe that voters are hyped enough about Paxton to turn out in record numbers. The "hold-their-noses-and-vote" are either mailing ballots (gasp) or will wait till election day.

Every day. EVERY day. More and more proof that there are no laws. No regulations. No morality. Just a bunch of fictions our lords and masters make up, and laugh about, as they apply them to us little people.

“IOKIYAR … “

“If Obama had ever done this …”

“Biden’s too old.”

The Trumpublicans and their moneyed backers would be more careful, if they were fully rational. Because we *could* still have an actual revolution here. Be like those Frenchies: slash and slaughter and nationalize … and every so often pause to ask, have we gone too far? Then say “naw,” and redouble the effort.

Fucking garbage, thy name is Republican.

Demme Epstein Fatale's avatar

Exactly.

I'm so tired. But not too tired to drop my vote at the ballot box last week.

Safe to assume that he’s the same way at family dinners, if not worse. Maybe both Ivana and Marla were somewhat relieved when he left them, free of his incessant whining and boasting.
