Democrats need to push for a complete reformation of the Supreme Court. Either impeach the 6 criminals on the court, or expand it to thirteen. There is no magic number that must be adhered to, and since we have 6 Christian Nationalists, at least 4 racists, two who extract bribes from corporations about to come before the court and have lived off corporate largess for a very long time, they need to go. Period. These people do not do anything honestly with their shadow docket and other shady twisted interpretations of clear language in the Constitution.
The Roberts Court is a travesty and con-game at the highest level and the people of the United States - All of us who live her and not just ""ordinary white folks" - they need to go and create new guardrails to protect the democracy and those who come to us for new lives, barriers to dark money, and a way to remove a judge who decides he can use the Court for his or her personal ends.
They're not even trying to pretend they're concerned about "voter fraud" anymore. They're just straight-up yanking polling places away from Black and Brown neighborhoods. It's politicized racism.
In April 2020, the height of Covid transmission, WI Republicans refused to reschedule, go all mail, or otherwise accommodate the health concerns of voters. Instead, elections were mandated in person. Due to health concerns and lack of volunteers/workers, plus no access to most traditional polling places due to the same, Milwaukee compressed their vote to 5 sites. Lines in the Blackest area of town grew, and required hours to get through. Robin Vos, WI Assembly leader, biggest jerk in WI politics, showed up at a polling place in his district to "help," masked and gowned like he was about to perform brain surgery, to national ridicule.
The stakes: A primary, AND a WI Supreme Court seat, 10-year term. The first of the multiple seat R losses that flipped the court, leading us to break the state-level gerrymander strangling us, and now a *potential* trifecta D takeover this November.
Show up, Tarrant County! It's hard now, but you can grab back their power and use it to put laws on the books to stop this long-term. It's not easy or fast, but if you put the work in, you can beat them.

The last day to fix your registration (e.g. if you've moved or been purged because your name is Jaron or Shaniquah) is October 5th. Once you've confirmed that you're registered, find out where your (new) polling place is located. If you do not have a car or are wheelchair-bound, ask someone who does own an auto to take you to vote.
If you're unaffected by the change, there's still plenty for you to do to help others vote. Do you drive? Organize your own mini "Souls to the Polls" by offering a ride to and from voting. Pick up students before class, drive them to vote, then take them to school, or do the same when classes are over. You can do the same for low wage workers without cars; take them to vote in the a.m. before work, then drop them off at the job. Or pick them up at work, take them to vote, then bring them home.
You can also display yard signs and wear merch for Talarico or your chosen local candidate, donate money if you're flush, postcard, phone bank, canvass (door knock). If you're somewhere that requires state ID to vote, help someone obtain it; either with a small "loan" to obtain certified birth certificate or other needed documents and/or with a ride to the DMV to get state ID (which also costs money, so maybe another small "loan" is in order). Yes, that money is a gift for some person living on or close to the edge, but say it's a loan so they can save face. I did that for a former client when I was working; if my job had found out, I could have been fired. It's worth it, and I live in NY where one does not have to show ID at the polling place.
Do NOT depend on USPS to get your mail-in ballot to the Board of Elections on time! Take it to a dropbox, either to early vote or on Election Day. If you have no choice but to vote by mail, here's the hack: Put a stamp on your ballot! This requires the post office to handle it as first class, rather than bulk mail. Remember, if you show up to vote and you aren't in the voters book, ask for a provisional ballot. I'm sure I haven't covered everything. Time for communities to start organizing bus trips to the polls to make sure students and seniors have a chance to vote. Assuming Texas hasn’t made it illegal to give someone a ride.
