It’s really late here and I’m far too tired to get into a whole thing, but the whole laughing joke about France just being a bunch of give-up pansies is some kinda smug crap. France lost something like 10% of its male population (and plenty of women and children too) in the First World War. As such, they were not prepared for another bloody conflict so soon after. And yet, so many people did resist. I live very close to the line of demarcation where bloody skirmishes were frequent. There’s a cemetery just up the road with row upon row of Maquis graves.
Fast forward to now, modern French fighting forces are also well funded and pretty well staffed. Push-overs they are not.

To the tune of $20 million. But in reality they instantly attack people for wearing masks and then throw ‘but you can do it if you want to’ at the end.
