The grift is strong here, I don't think raising their salaries would slake the greed.

So a congressman making $174,000 is worried they won't be able to afford college for their kids. given that that means it's probably far harder for the average family making only $50-60K to do so- the solution is:

A) make college more affordable or even free so that all kids have the opportunity to better themselves and society can reap the benefits of a better educated workforceorB) Give yourself a raise so you zoom well past making triple what that average family makes, despite working about half as much as they do. Take care of only your own kids and tell the rest of us to piss up a rope

Hmmmm, tough call....

What a bunch of losers. All they need to do is quit and go on welfare. Then they could drive around in a new Mercedes (sorry, no BMWs allowed), go on cruises, hit the casinos, and eat lobster every day. And instead of their part time job in DC, they would have a no time job anywhere they want.

Maybe Hastings would make more money if he was a federal judge, oh wait, he tried that gig and they impeached his ass for bribery and perjury.

To borrow from John Oliver, the rich are just running up the score at this point. If America were a little league game, we would've called it off long ago.

It's weird. When I hear one of these guys say "I'm underpaid," my brain interprets it as "Kill me and eat me in the hopes of gaining my power!"

I'm still waiting for an answer for what you do with such massive vessels. Drunken parties? You can do that on dry land any time.

Give me a kayak any time. Maybe a fancy-pants solar-powered one if I had $174k to burn.

This is a prime example of my dismay toward Wasserman-Schultz. Get your damn people in line! She should be telling every Dem to never ever mention or vote for Congressional pay raises, so that it can be a talking point during elections. They dont have to worry....with the R majority, they will get their damn raises if/when it goes to vote, but they can at least say no Dem ever voted "yea" for raises for themselves. And they should be putting forward bills to strip some perks like the flying first class thing. Again, they wont pass, so they dont have to worry about losing them, but they at least look like they are really working for the people, and the R's will look like the douches they are.

You are giving them too much credit for common sense, I'm afraid.
