Imagining their life is in danger allows them to believe they are special, that their lives are valued by others, which sets them apart from everyone else; proof of their importance is the *fact* that their life is in danger.

You know, if I were a bad person -- and, heaven know, I am NOT a bad person -- I would suggest that we all go out and get the addresses of gun afficionados, and enter them -- erroneously -- in the data base as gun ownership opponents. Soon anyone trying to use the app to find gun opponents would be stumbling over avid gun lovers ... imagine the excitement! But, as it happens, I am NOT a bad person.
