Just about 100% of gun nuts are drooling over the day they can just legally murder someone (for turning around in their driveway or knocking on their door, etc).

Stand your ground doesn't have anything to do with the (un)regulated right to bear arms. Instead it creates a form of legalized murder where deadly force can be used as a first resort instead of as a last resort. So why does the NRA feel so strongly about this? I think it's because they are terroristic thugs who won't be satisfied until the American death toll from guns exceeds 9/11. OH WAIT! It already does that every few weeks.

The terrorist watch list: not good enough to deny people the right to carry murder weapons, but good enough to deny people the right to vote.

It's not even the SYG part that's particularly egregious. It's a combination of the lack of any need to demonstrate necessity or proportionality for the use of force, and the fact that unlike any other affirmative defense ("Yes I did it but you should acquit because...") I can think of, the prosecution has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant did not rationally fear for his life; usually the burden of proof switches to the defendant when making an affirmative defense.
