You don't have to jeopardize your own safety in order to speak up in the moment, especially if you're alone, and essentially at the mercy of a guy who's probably armed. It's better to stay safe, and to contribute to things like schools, or state elections, or even to go back with a group and help make changes. Create springboards to effect change gradually. You don't have to risk your life. The only thing I would think you could do would be to have a conversation with him, pleasantly, and let him see that a middle aged woman can be a person he can have a conversation with. That alone is a change for him, probably.
