What in the HELL makes a person turn like this? Money, power, change of heart...WHAT? It's nuts. I can hardly believe it. I've never seen a person do this 180 so quickly. Is there some kind of trump brain glue? This Vance person today is horrendous. This maga stuff confounds me, in politics and in "regular" people. Make it make sense!!!

JD seems like such a different person from the one who is running with the Big Dolt. He seems more intelligent and articulate. It makes me wonder who is the REAL JD.

When he debates (next week?) it will be especially difficult for him to perform under pressure. He will have to be constantly juggling what he really thinks with the need to play a part - what should I say as 'JD TRUMP'? Walz won't have to do that. He'll only have to draw on who he is and what he thinks - so he'll be much faster. You watch. THe Blessed Rev is always correct because I am CHOSEN OF GOD

It's one of the reason I am loathe to just blithely believe never trumpers are actually on our side, instead of their own that just coincides, for the moment, in a dislike of Trump. The second it is profitable for them to Forever Trump, there is a good chance they will.

Minus the very few who have accepted that this is what the GOP has been making all along AND admitted their own blame in that. Think there are like...three.

I appreciate the ones who are currently helping, but trust zero of them. These are people who, before Trump came along, were just fine with the party’s racism, misogyny, bigotry, and economic policies designed to aid the wealthy and subjugate the rest.

I can’t imagine why anyone would trust J Divan not to stab them in the back.

I hope Tim Walz has a copy of this dossier so he can smack Vance upside the head with it at the next debate.

What about Jimmy David calling Tiny Hands "Cultural heroin"?

And Hillbilly J.D. knows from heroin. What's that mascara hiding, actually?

So, are you just dismissing the possibility that one or more, very wealthy people, who also hate Trump, recruited Vance to be a double agent that they then forced on Trump with the only thing that matters to him (money) so that he could exaggerate the worst of what Trump says, to sabotage his candidacy? There has to be someone with a plan, here.

Trump is a useful distraction for the wealthy: they get everything they want, he gets the blame. For example, there are people who vote Republican who swear up and down it was Biden who did away with Roe and that is why they are voting Trump

You're falling into that easy trap of thinking that people with a lot of money are smart and good at strategy.

Yes, I really think Occam's Razor applies here: His dumb sons like Vance and Trump listens to family members. I don't think there's a deeper well.

Its believable because there were genuine people a few months ago saying Vance was the "voice of young conservatives". I'm guessing after he made his heelturn into the right/manosphere.

FFS. And not a word from the nyt et. al even though they made innocuous email front page news in 2016 for months. Print is not only dying, it's committing suicide.

"Once upon a time, Vance saw right through him, just like the rest of us do."

That's not exactly a shock. Vance is weird and off-putting, but not stupid. At least, not so stupid that he can't see right through Trump. I'm sure his mother had boyfriends who weren't much different.

The theory that I have and which is mine and what it is, too, is that Vance is a Manchurian Candidate for sane Republicans. He is clearly a Lincoln Project plant since it looked like Trump was a sure thing to win, and would probably die in office. Sincerely, Cock Blockula, bracket Miss brackets.

Also too, all Republicans are reptilian, and are thin at one end, much, much thicker in the middle and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me. Sincerely, Cock Blockula, bracket Miss brackets.

FWIW, according to a terrific article I read not long ago (and wish to hell I had bookmarked), Vance was an immigrant-hater and all-around rightie loon since his teens. From that perspective, the wonder is not that he came around to Trump; it's that he was ever against Trump in the first place.
