"I don’t think it matters if it’s a progressive plan or a moderate plan or a “Blue dog” plan so much as he simply rejects the concept of having any plan at all"

You know who really likes and touts "the concepts of a plan"?!?

I read Jeffries’ responses in his voice and now I am sad.

Also, probably completely unrelated.

“OpenSecrets: Jeffries received $391,000 from health insurance PACs during the 2026 midterm cycle, and he was also THE top Democratic recipient of insurance industry PAC cash during the 2024 cycle.”

<And what is clear is that the American people want us to focus on driving down the high cost of living and dealing with the affordability crisis that has created a situation in this country where far too many people are working hard, they’re playing by the rules, but they can’t thrive and can barely survive>

He sounds like he's close to getting it but he's not. Playing by the rules...Whose rules? Yeah, as I thought.

Wow, that was pathetic. Glad to see the Democratic leadership really has the pulse of Democratic voters.

Too bad leadership's pulse is like Mitch McConnell's.

My two cents: the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is one of the great pieces of legislation of the past half century, a “big fucking deal,” as a certain ex-Vice President said at the time of its passage. Every Democrat with an IQ above room temperature should be falling all over themself to defend it.

Won't all these plans be moot in two weeks when Trump's plan rolls out?

Hakeem Jeffries is no Nancy Pelosi. He scarcely qualifies as a Dem if he absolutely rejects the agenda of a whole lot of Dems without apparently understanding it. Or understand Dem voters, who he is supposed to be supporting, not cherry-picking.

I saw this headline on The guardian and couldn't bring myself to read it. What a miserable little fuck that seems well on his way to serial killer-dom.

Dear Hakeem, the CORRECT and ONLY response to such questions is "We want EVERYONE in the party, period!" and "Medicaid for All AND repairing the Affordable Care Act for everyone!" Repeat after me; "We want EVERYONE in the party, period!" and "Medicaid for All AND repairing the Affordable Care Act for everyone!"

Or let's take his track of alienating everyone pissed off with the Democratic establishment, like, everyone.

"We in the Democratic Party have repeatedly shown since after the Lyndon Johnson administration that progress is something we don't believe in. Sure Carter was a blip and Obama tried to do stuff. But we will stand firm on things like increasing the prison population and pretending health care is important all the while funding killing brown people to keep ourselves richer"

There’s a popular meme that’s been circulating for awhile, of a fighter jet bearing the US and Israeli flags flying from it, dropping bombs on Gaza — and the aircraft has faded decals of Progress Pride and Black Lives Matter.

While the Dem party prefers to be elite and favor incumbents, Dems in general want more. The problem is they won't elect enough Dems to control the House, Senate, or Presidency.

Hakeems just here for the lobbyist money. Health insurance companies are a big source of that.

Lordy, do we need new leadership. The words that comes to mind is mealy mouth.

We need fighters, not capitulators.

I wonder if Jeffries could/would openly get behind at least health care coverage for all. As in at least go back to fixing and improving the ACA, for example. That could be a minimum litmus test, perhaps? Yeah, just do what Obama pursued. At least do that.

(Yeah, I used “at least” three times. We can do better. But we’ve gotta stop doing worse … at least.)

Universal healthcare is the mainstream position.

And it would save taxpayers a ton of money since our current system is corrupt. Other countries cover all their citizens at a lower cost per capita. Health care is one thing that should be non-profit.
