"Mace claims that the Speech and Debate Clause protects her from having to answer questions about the accusations she’s made."
She seems to know little about the Speech and Debate Clause, which as I understand it protects only speech and debate she makes in pursuit of her official duties.
I have friends who live in SC, and they are across-the-board embarrassed by all of their R politicians. Of course, they're raging liberals, but they feel about their representatives like I feel about mine (Boebert).
Ta, Marcie. It's hard to believe Ms. Mace is educated. She doesn't live in SC or DC, she is a bona fide resident of Crazy Town. And it looks like Bryant has the goods.

Mace is taking advantage of the Speech and Debate Clause. She claims she brought up Patrick Bryant on the floor was to support three bills under consideration:
> "Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) is re-introducing three bills in the 119th Congress: the Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act, the Stop the Invasion of Women’s Spaces Act, and the Prison Rape Prevention Act. These three bills aim to restore common sense protections for women in restrooms, locker rooms, shelters, and prisons, ensuring biological men cannot invade spaces meant for women.
[...]
◾ The Stop the Invasion of Women’s Spaces Act expands protections for women’s spaces by barring biological men from using women’s restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms in all federally funded facilities. This includes schools and universities, national parks, government buildings, healthcare facilities such as hospitals and clinics, public housing and shelters, and transportation hubs like airports, train stations, and bus terminals.
◾ The Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act prohibits biological men from using women’s restrooms, locker rooms, and other private, protected facilities on all federal property, including government buildings, national parks, and military installations. This legislation ensures federally managed spaces maintain sex-specific protections for privacy and safety.
◾ The Prison Rape Prevention Act addresses the growing crisis of male criminals exploiting gender identity policies to gain access to women’s prisons, where cases of sexual assault have already been reported. This bill bans housing biological men in women’s correctional facilities, preventing dangerous individuals from endangering female inmates. Additionally, it puts an end to the misuse of taxpayer dollars on gender-affirming medical care for incarcerated individuals—stopping violent offenders from manipulating the system to gain access to women’s spaces." * Mace's floor speech included unfounded, unproven accusations against her ex-fiancé. (Something Congress needs to address to prevent protection for slanderous remarks.)
* I question the legality of her using info from Bryant's cellphone for any purpose. It appears as if she obtained it without permission and originally had nothing to do with Congress:
> "On Nov. 13, 2023, Bryant said he woke up to find Mace searching through his phone. She allegedly installed data-extraction software to recover “deleted messages and files.”
* Someone needs to explain to me just what the fuck the three bills have to do with her accusations. The first two bills refer to women's restrooms, locker rooms and other spaces open to the public and the third to prisons... none of which applied to the Bryant v Mace situation.
(Sidebar: the RINOs have their knickers all knotted up about biological males in women's spaces to protect the women from trans women. Out of curiosity, what safety provisions are being made to protect biological males who have transitioned from abuse/sexual assault in men's facilities?)
sadly, you'd need to jam a knitting needle in one ear and out the other, dip your head in boiling oil, watch the kardashians and then i'm pretty sure it will make sense.

The ONLY things that matter to the majority of South Carolinians are that all women carry their pregnancies to term even if it kills them, and that the woman in the stall next to them wasn't born with dangly bits. No worries about groceries; 'possums are plentiful and free.
Not so much anymore. SC is where all the RW types retiring from New York and New Jersey are going, since they can't get homeowner's insurance if they move to Florida.
The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a request that it consider overturning its landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage a decade ago.
The court, without comment, declined the petition, filed by Kim Davis, a former Kentucky county clerk who gained national attention in 2015 when she defied a court order and refused to issue same-sex licenses because of her religious beliefs.
She had asked the Supreme Court to reverse an order that required her to pay more than $300,000 to a couple denied a marriage license — and to overturn the same-sex marriage ruling from 2015.
At least four of the nine justices would have needed to vote to hear Ms. Davis’s case and revisit the marriage precedent, a major step that many legal experts had said they were not expecting the court to take. NYT

I tried, I really did, to follow that narrative, but it’s too crazy to keep straight.

My brain hurts from reading all the machinations of the people involved in Mace's crazy town.
Does Bryant own a pet rabbit by any chance?
Sometimes women aren't much better at being being decent people than men
Christ Trying to Unwrap a Stay Fresh Madeleine! What a mindless bore that Nancy Mace!

Won't someone think of The Children
Don't get within 6 feet of this woman, especially if you're a man.
