"Hundreds of LGBTQ+ New Yorkers and their allies gathered outside the Stonewall Inn on Friday to manifest physically what the Trump administration has sought to erase in government records: that transgender and queer people have demonstrated, protested, and occasionally fought in the streets throughout American history for their civil and human rights.
“Trans people have been here since the beginning of time,” said Tanya Asapansa-Johnson Walker, a prominent trans activist who spoke at the protest. “We fought in all the wars. We’re creators. We have families and children. We’re just as much a part of this world as anyone else. We’re here to stay, and we will not be erased by a Christo-fascist, neo-Nazi administration.”
“They’re trying to use trans people as scapegoats to cover for cutting all these social services — so they can give the money to the billionaires,” said Renée Imperato, a longtime leader in New York’s trans community, who held court in Christopher Park after the protest wound down. (House Republicans Wednesday released a budget plan with massive tax cuts for the rich alongside deep cuts to social services that benefit the poor and working class people.)
“Fascists” like Trump and Elon Musk “have stayed in power by two things: divide and conquer,” Imperato added. “And they’ve been doing that since the history of this country, whether it’s Black from white, Latinx from Asian, Indigenous people — that’s how they stay in power. And if they could not do it, they would be in the trash bin of history.” “These capitalist parasites never, ever have enough. And now they want our blood.”"
there is probably a German word for the emotion experienced watching cops defending a monument from the same people that got a monument by defending themselves from cops. prolly similar to the emotion experienced by watching the J6 terrorists beat up cops with blue lives matter flags.
"Permutations of the concept of pleasure at another's unhappiness are: pleasure at another's happiness, displeasure at another's happiness, and displeasure at another's unhappiness. Words for these concepts are sometimes cited as antonyms to schadenfreude, as each is the opposite in some way.
There is no common English term for pleasure at another's happiness (i.e.; vicarious joy), though terms like 'celebrate', 'cheer', 'congratulate', 'applaud', 'rejoice' or 'kudos' often describe a shared or reciprocal form of pleasure. The pseudo-German coinage freudenfreude is occasionally used in English.[21][22][23][24] The Hebrew slang term firgun refers to happiness at another's accomplishment.[25]
Displeasure at another's happiness is involved in envy, and perhaps in jealousy.[citation needed] The pseudo-German coinage "freudenschade" similarly means sorrow at another's success.[26] The correct form would be Freudenschaden, since the pseudo-German coinage incorrectly assumes the n in Schadenfreude to be an interfix and the adjective schade ("unfortunate") a noun.
Displeasure at another's good fortune is Gluckschmerz, a pseudo-German word coined in 1985 as a joke by the pseudonymous Wanda Tinasky; the correct German form would be Glücksschmerz.[27][28] It has since been used in academic contexts.[29]
Displeasure at another's unhappiness is sympathy, pity, or compassion."
"New York University law professor Ryan Goodman says the alleged “quid pro quo” arrangement between New York City Mayor Eric Adams and President Donald Trump’s administration was captured Friday in broad daylight — when the legally embattled mayor appeared on national television. A few days earlier, Adams and Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, had a curious exchange on Fox News. During an appearance Friday on “Fox & Friends,” Homan said: “If [Adams] doesn’t come through, I’ll be back in New York City, and we won’t be sitting on the couch. I’ll be in his office, up his butt, saying, ‘Where the hell is the agreement we came to?’”

The are actual saints because they couldn't say that if they weren't. I'm not sure of their actual miracles that triggered canonization, but I'm sure they were good ones.
"Trump has every right to decide which events are open to the press, or not, and at which events he will take questions, or not. What he should not have the right to do is decide which outlets are permitted to take part in the pool. Which is why how the WHCA responds to Trump here is critical. For the last three days, we’ve issued strongly worded statements, with a strongly worded letter in works on Friday, but I’m not sure that’s ever going to work.
Here’s what might work: Trump needs and wants the reach of the real media, not just his fan club. We should stand by our colleagues at the AP, which is actually an alma mater for many of us. We should tell the White House that if the AP is not invited to participate in his photo ops, then we’re not interested, either. Trump enjoys punching down on and mocking reporters who nevertheless have to call him “Mr. President.” We don’t have to let him. Tell them we’re happy to send in a pool camera instead, and he’s free to say whatever he wants for however long he wants.
Because if he gets away with doing this to the world’s largest news organization, he can and will do it to any and all of us."
Seeing that abomination Barney reminded me of an anecdote from my daughter's childhood that I'm going to foist upon you good people. When she was around 18 months old, we were walking the aisles of Target and saw a package of girls' underwear with Barney's likeness printed all over them. When she asked me who that was I replied, "that's Evil." So from that point on, every time she saw his likeness she would say, "look Mommy, it's Evil." One of my proudest parenting moments.
Donald Chump just handed Eric Adams' removal to Kathy Hochul on a silver platter if she's got the wherewithal to pull the trigger.
Adams has been completely compromised by Chump and can't be depended on to run the city with the best interests of its citizens at heart.
Adams is innocent until proven guilty, and that may have been the end result if his case had been allowed to proceed apace, but that's irrelevant now. He's compromised. For the good of the citizens of New York City, he has to go.
I have been thinking of Republican appropriations, in particular the whole "pork barrel politics" that has dominated southern state senatorial politics. There are entire small southern towns based upon government contracts and projects.
All that is going to be gone now.
If one were to be a cynic, one could think the way Republicans abuse their own voters is intentional sadism.
WaPo: Lawmakers expect tough questions over Trump’s vision in Europe
Kinda cute how WaPo calls them "lawmakers" when they do everything possible to avoid making laws. In the absence of (and, lately, in the face of) legislation President Musk and Cosplay POTUS Trump rule as czars.
It is also National Red Socks day, so best wishes to all who celebrate.
so it's not James Carville day??
Very timely commentary from that first clip. Trump was modeling Skeletor for the jailhouse picture which I won't be harshing the vibe by posting.
Hmm. Not a single link to Inspirational Skeletor?

Finally the grocery stores are charging as much for eggs and produce as the organic farm up the road for me does.

one of my friends had a picture of Breshnev oggling, I mean "admiring" Jill St John back in the Nelson Rockefeller Veep days.
The Internet remembers

She was dating Kissinger at the time. 🤮
oh my! My friend’s copy of the picture didn’t show Tricky Dick was still “in the picture”

Yeah but they stood with fox that one time when Obama suggested liars should not have white house press creds
So, they good
I don't remember much of a boycott, either, when Jim Acosta was banished from the WH press corp.
Happy St Skeletor Day. May Skeletor protect your bones from osteoporosis.

Better parent than Elon, but that's a pretty low bar.
I dunno--teaching him to tell Trump to shut his feck'n mouth is some masterful parenting/s
I’m out shopping with a long time gal pal I haven’t seen in a few months.
She’s 72, a sweet, sweet, beautiful lady.
She’s fine with immigrants being thrown out and knows not why in particular, and she likes Gulf of America better, just because she likes it.
I’m beside myself.
I want to cry.
She isn't sweet.
She's sugar- coated poison.

Would this not be a state prosecution, rather than federal?
Maybe. Remember when Bill Barr took a prosecution of Chump away from the state and then sat on it?

But, naw . . .
Can't they revert to financing their towns with speed traps?
Everything they do reminds me of what I heard recently: "MAGAts would shit in their own pants just to make a Liberal smell it."
