I'm sure someone looked into the 18% of adults who reported an undesired weight loss. Undesired. Like what you only get with prolonged illness, substance abuse, or dire situations that leave you waiting in line for hours at a food bank.

Anyway, how does that KrispyKreme promo work? Like, you can't keep my card. What's to say I don't just circle around all day long, getting one free donut at a time?

Talk with cardiology about radical dietary change to clear those blockages. A friend just spent some months on such a diet, and it helped. Meanwhile: www.google.com/search?q=arterial+blockage+dietary+change

Cardiology seems only to be obsessed with my blood pressure and "take more pills." I will check out that google search. Thanks.

That is a main reason why I think they're BS. They do not take into account differences between muscle mass and fat or even differences between men and women, IIRC. It's a one size fits all approach for a species which cannot be measured that way in pretty much any metric one would care to name. There's just too much variation among humans for such simplistic approaches.

It's just ONE donut!!

Personally, I'd prefer a free mocha.

It is actually horrible. When I first got "real" insurance after several years, I went to go see a doctor in hopes of getting a bunch of things taken care of. The doctor directly said that he absolutely would not talk to me about *anything* other than the fact that I was 10 lbs overweight and that if I was not interested in getting on his weight loss program I could just leave. I just sobbed all the way home. It was *awful.*

This x1000, only no one has even seen my body in forever this time, & I'm generally looking worse for wear. I know that people stress-eat, but once I'm stressed, I have to force food down (& it then warp-speeds through my body). I'm sorry for you, but happy to not be alone!

There's also the fact that BMI is a dumb measure of one's health. I am a healthy weight, work out daily, am quite fit, but my BMI is a stubborn 25. It doesn't account for muscle weighing more than fat.

Agree. My BMI suggests that I am on the verge of being overweight, but a fair amount of that weight is muscle. I can highly recommend a punching bag for pandemic exercise BTW.

No, I was referring to professional rugby players. And unfortunately many Drs believe BMI is the be all and end all, I'm constantly having mine rubbed in my face as fertility treatment is denyed to those above an arbitrary number and my brother's Dr was constantly on at him to lose weight based entirely on his BMI.

I've got a list of gastro specialists near me & need to make an appointment. For years I was able to deal with it enough (don't ever eat in public, time my meals v. when I had to be out of the house, always know where a less-used restroom is located), but the pandemic messed that up completely. Even without eating, I'm unwell up to dozens of times a day. I will take your story as motivation to make an appointment! Be well...
