Robyn, here's an idea: after a random drawing from the subscriber list, Hooper could ask that person a few questions about their favorite things and then design a cocktail around the answers.
If you remember the original version (The Chipmunks, 1959) you will certainly like Norah Jones' slinky updated version of this lovely song! - Christmas Don't Be Late (YouTube)
On the positive side, all of us have fairly mild cases. On the negative side, my whole house has covid for Christmas. We let the kids get their presents early so they have something to do while isolating.
Here's a little ditty you might be familiar with: "We're getting Covid, for Christmas..."
Seriously, sorry to hear and I hope everyone does well. For me, Gatorade, Ginger Ale and Water saved the day. And for some really odd reason, I was hungry throughout, which is very weird for a virus (for me anyway).
I hope you and The Fam are able to enjoy "some" of this (usually) festive holiday season. Probably a good time to bake or make chicken soup for the whole family.. Don't forget some holiday goodies too!
I'm so sorry this happened to what sounded like a really nice sister. I will think of her (and you) every Christmas and hope that your memories of her make you smile more than cry.
Your boundaries need to be firmly in place - don't get dragged into the extreme selfishness displayed by those that should have watched over her. Let the emptiness of your non-relationship just sit there...he knows.
Thanks Kate❤️. I'm better with it now that it's been a few years, although on special days like her birthday and holidays it is still pretty sad. As far as boundaries, I have no contact and nothing to do with my stupid father or his stupid stupid stupid wife. They are in Michigan poisoning the air and discourse in that state, and I do apologize to all my Michigan based brothers and sisters for that. I will donate to the Douglas county Oregon special Olympics in her name this year to honor her memory. Happy holidays to you and yours. 🕎🌟🎄🎅🏻⭐🤶🏻
I am a Florida teacher, my students deserve better than what they’re getting, my fellow teachers deserve better, and our dipshit governor is throwing money away suing the college football playoffs for not inviting Florida State.
Teachers are leaving the state because conditions are so terrible in public schools and being a citizen here, with skyrocketing homeowners’ insurance and property taxes, is so expensive that we can’t afford it. The only reason I stay is that my spouse has a good IT position that keeps our family in the black.
I also stay because my students are wonderful, amazing, lovely young people who give me hope.
They deserve so much better.
I am ALLOWED to bitch about it. Especially on Festivus!
Bless you for still being a teacher in Florida. I ache for those poor children whose education is being glibly tinkered with in the name of political and religious power. 🤬
You MUST celebrate THAT feat! I don't know how the more saner (Democratic) teachers and residents of Florida deal with that complete imbecile Governor and BOTH of your US Senators! They're really messing up a nice (maybe soon to be former) US state.
My feat of strength: I helped my wife home from the hospital after her gender confirmation surgery. And I lifted an Old Rasputin, which tastes like more than 12 ounces, so I'm counting that as a heavy curl! My grievance: the heater in my car needs to be replaced. It sounds like a jet engine taking off in there!
Quick and painless recovery to the wifey! Please keep us updated! (Not just because we hope the best for her, but also because I’m hoping to undergo surgery myself sooner rather than later.)
My greivance:The kid got a vr kit for his birthday, and my husband is currently making an ass out of himself, reliving his Navy days, playing a bar fight simulator.
World's most wonk holiday greetings!

Merry Christmas to the greater Wonkette Land and the very best to us all 2024 !!

That might spur a few more people to subscribe.
That, or a Wonkmeet in their hometown.
Herbei, O ihr Gläubigen!
Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

That was a good way of adjusting to the circumstances.
sorry that everyone is sick - but at least you're only mildly sick

Hey, Trix... if you're listening...
I'd like a pony. And to actually make it onto Bake-Off.
But since you can't realistically threaten/bribe/blackmail the Bake-Off producers, I'll settle for the pony.
How magnanimous of you!
I was going to ask for a unicorn, but I decided to be realistic.
Don't worry, I don't really want a pony, I have nowhere to keep one.
Grievances?
MAGA nutjobs ruining the planet. Worst people in the world.

My sister, Angie, died from covid in 2021. This article was written by our lovely editrix at the time. Today would have been her
48th birthday. Miss you Ange ❤️
I remember this from when it first ran. What a powerful statement.
Oof. I’m so, so sorry for your loss, and your absolutely righteous indignation.
Internet HUGS, if wanted.

Grievances? Let’s see here:
- Republican bullshit
- My own health
- This f*cking migraine
- Work
- A distinct lack of romance
But I’ve got you glorious assholes to be surrounded by—and y’all make all the difference. <3
And now for the feats of strength, I will restrain myself from beating the snot out of idiots on the bus I’m on.
HAPPY FESTIVUS DON’T GET TOO DRUNK.
hiya Kid, how's it going? have a great holiday season.

Oh, hey: I should say my Feat of Strength is I’ve managed to teach for 3 whole semesters in a Florida public school! Yay
