Just read a book about the rise of Nazi Germany and Fascists in Italy. There was mention of the United States paying General Motors and Ford reparations for bombing their factories in Germany after the war ended. The book is Blackshirts and Reds by Michael Parenti.

I found a little factoid from answering a post on Twitter.

By 1940, there were only 30 million privately registered vehicles. Out of a population of 132 millions. It equates to one per household at best. And decades AFTER this revolution in manufacturing. Obviously, the COST of running a car was a bigger factor than just being able to buy one.

Fed minimum wage would give you $14k a year pre tax.There are about 10 different ways to extrapolate relative worth of $ over the years, $5 from 1914 can go up to $600.

Moscow Mitch has voted against raising minimum wage about 15 times, because he thinks $7.25 is being overly generous. $7.25 gets you $14,500 a year.
