Well, nuts, this is a genuine, bona fide Moment of Sad: after 20 terms in the House of Representatives, liberal healthcare superhero Henry Waxman and his unfortunate teeth announced today that he'll be retiring at the end of his current term.
I'm glad he didn't die in the saddle, like Henry B. Gonzales or Tom Lantos. He'll be missed by those of us who realize people can make a difference. I hope he teaches somewhere.
These days we tend to forget not all members of Congress are assholes and morons. Thanks for being one of the good guys and enjoy your retirement, Henry.
