Several of the men involved in the Great Locomotive Chase are buried in the National Cemetery here in Chattanooga. There is a monument with a locomotive on top, a stark contrast to the other identical plain white monuments that make up a National Cemetery .

I will vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is, that includes Joe Biden.

I just want to mention I think Harris would do a good job, especially with Biden's excellent staff to help her. Some people in the WAPO are saying she has to EARN it, would anyone suggest Mike Pence had to EARN it.

Many may disagree with me, and that's okay.

BUT...I can't help thinking how sweet it would be for a Black woman to defeat Trump. He'd never recover from that humiliation. Never ever.

I'm definitely on Team Kamala if it's not going to be Biden.

The fact that PAB has any chance at all of winning is insane and I'm not sure I believe the polls showing he's ahead of truth, competence, respect for democracy and decency by 6 points.

Sweet baby Jesus. Email from my 82 yr old stepmother with a link to a Bernie thing. She's all, what do you think?

Fuuuuck me. I'll respond later and gently tell her to settle down. What's scarier is how defeated my dad feels after the debate. He's the most well informed and reasonable person I know, but he's also a little sensitivo about aging and dementia so I can see how this is sitting so uncomfortably for him.

Ed Martin, the deputy policy director for the RNC convention’s platform committee said he opposes language in abortion bans that allows for abortion to save the life of a mother, falsely saying on his radio show in June 2022, “It's an absolute scientific fact that no abortion is ever performed to save the life of the mother. None, zero, zilch.”

The problem with Republicans is they’re patently stupid.

Unfortunately, that thinking affect ALL women not just the Republican ones. Perhaps if this asshole lost a truly loved one, like a daughter, niece, or cousin to a pregnancy that went wrong and because she wasn't able to have an abortion lost her life, it might make him open his eyes to his stupidity. But alas, I fear this asshole never learned empathy from his equally stupid parents. So there's that.

So at least according to WaPo, the boil water notice is due to a combo of an algae bloom in the water that feeds the aqueduct and needing to keep water pressure high because Fourth of July, some idiot will set Something on fire. They're going to keep doing more intensive testing, but there's already been runs on supermarkets with water.

Yes. I keep a hurricane ditch bag. It’s a small duffle with swimming pool test strips, a flashlight, spare batteries, a one burner camp stove & small pot, one gallon of water, couple boxes of granola bars, a blanket, and a handheld VFH radio.

Water with 1 to 5 PPM of free chlorine is disinfected and safe to drink.

“The water should have a slight chlorine odor.”

This is a fascinating effect. The “chlorine smell” doesn’t come from chlorine. It comes from chloramines. Chloramines are chlorine that has bound to, and killed, some little critters. The smell let’s you know it’s working.

Test strips are the best way to know, however, that you haven’t gone overboard.

Well, fill the tub. Open the bleach. Fill the cap of the bleach bottle with bleach. Add to tub. Stir the water. That should make the water safe in 10 minutes.

If you have pool test strips, just make sure you have 1 or 2 PPM chlorine.
