I feel DeSantis is dangerous. He’s trying to take an easy road into the White House riding trump’s coat tails . It is astounding he can spew that vile poison and hate with a straight face, while his own state is literally the 5th level of hell. Luckily, he has the personality of wet cardboard, so I’m hoping that keeps him out.
Speaking of Scott Walker--and I will--the offspring is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin/Madison. She loved her time there and the education that she received. Until...
Scott Walker was elected Governor and proceeded to wreck the entire UW system. Bless my child's heart, she sat in and demonstrated at the Capitol in Madison (following in her Ma's footsteps).
Our Scotty is a college dropout--cashiered from Marquette for gambling or some such. Probably why he doesn't value a college education.
Anyway, Wisconsin makes it into the Rose Bowl when Scotty is still governor and he decides to come to LA to take part in the celebration, shows up on the Santa Monica Pier for a pre-game party. He was booed, loud and long, by everyone in attendance. I don't think he stayed for the game the next day. Wisconsin played the next two Rose Bowls (lost all 3 games--sighs). No sign of Scotty.
This is why misinformation is so dangerous, and we need more laws to protect against it. It’s no longer enough to expect politicians or candidates to feel shame or embarrassment for being caught in a lie, and we surely can’t trust many voters to discern what is true or false. Many of them don’t care. But when dishonest officials are elected based on lies, our government is weaker, our democracy is weaker, and we lose our bearings on the truth. The truth is our basis for understanding, for our rules and laws, for our justice and fairness. Truth is a glue for a healthy society. People like Trump are a threat to the truth.
Any democrat running for any office should be sure to remind voters that Republicans will not only ban your right to choose, and punish you for taking the painful, difficult journey to a blue state that respects your rights, they will tell you just how stupid they think you are by repeatedly lying about “post-birth” abortions. This is why we need (in addition to campaign finance reform) campaign reform that addresses misinformation. If an elected official or candidate makes a claim that is easily proven false, that person should be notified and warned not to repeat it, and to retract it publicly. If they repeat it, there should be consequences. We are talking about objectively verifiably false facts. Example - some states allow abortion after birth. It’s false. Even children born with a fatal condition must receive palliative care. But Republicans will say anything to get a vote, because in their warped minds, it’s better to lie and be able to affect policy as a minority than to accept policy favored by a democratic majority. I hope young voters are seeing it and aren’t fooled.
Pity the poor Governor. His incredible ambition, drive, focus, and, shitloads of money got him to where he is today. That drive, ambition, focus, and desire for access to shitloads of money don't just go away because the law says you can't run again. And that drive ambition, focus, and desire for access to shitloads of cash demand that each step is always up. From Governor, there's only two directions open: Senator or President.
Mr. DiSappointus has already shit the bed on the presidency. Does he have what it takes to drive that stake into Rick Scott's heart?
DeSantis military commitment was served in Gitmo where he covered up deaths by torture of multiple detainees, would come and laugh while they were being tortured, and approved various banned forms of torture as legal in his role in the JAG.
PLEASE remember that DeSantis watched people get tortured, which he could have chosen not to observe, and laughed.
"He’s a fucking piece of shit, is our point, and he’s going to lose the Republican primary."
But not for the reason that he's a fucking piece of shit, if anything that would HELP his election chances even though it won't be enough considering who he's running against.
Wait a minute, I thought "post-birth abortions" was the nick name for Rancid DeSantis failed campaign? You mean these jagoffs thinks there is a dumpster next to the nursey in hospitals where they throw babies? If only it was true during the 1940's in Queens, NY
"We have a limited amount of money in a defense budget."
Come. The fuck. On. Limited in the sense that, they don't have all the money in the world forever, maybe. But let's ask some human services agencies about limited budgets, shall we? I'm no expert on the budget, but I'm pretty damn sure there's no secret daycare 'black budget' out there, no blank checks for school lunches, no yearly increases above asking for food stamps and Medicaid. This is one more attempt to make it seem like The Greedy Poors are sucking up all the funds leaving our military sadly cash strapped. And it's complete and utter horseshit. Fuck Rhonda Santos, and Fuck Ted Cruz too while we're at it.
WRT the loathsome “Hyde Amendment” - where’s the equivalent care for people with strongly held beliefs about the making of war? Quakers and other “Peace Churches” have been opposed to the making of war for centuries, not the few decades it’s been politically convenient for the pro-forced-birth people. Also, a LOT of our taxes go for warmaking, as opposed to the minuscule amounts that go toward women’s health.
I have no objections to my taxes going for veteran’s care (mental as well as physical), support for families, or any of the other promises that were made to people who signed up for the military. In fact, I think more should be spent on them- that the military should stop crying poor about having to repair the damage done by military service. Also, the environmental damage the military does and walks away from, again crying poor.
Calling being forced to travel for an abortion "tourism" is like calling being forced to bear a child against your will "an inconvenience." It's trivializing language from shitheads who have no idea what they're talking about.
Republicans should embrace abortion as sound military policy. A pregnant soldier can’t be deployed to whatever bullshit war for oil they want to start next. They should offer incentives for soldiers who have abortions. Maybe a punch card system. Ten abortions and you get an automatic promotion.
Here's Ron DeSantis Whining About 'Abortion Tourism,' In Case You Forgot How Much You Hate Him

Didn't Biden repeal the Hyde Amendment for his presidency? I thought it toggled back and forth depending who was in the White House.

That is what he did in the Navy JAG.

Post-birth abortions. WTF?
Can we back up a minute?

There's one of these white-supremacist circle jerks EVERY fucking weekend!!!
