I can't watch the video. Note how the police statement pretends their only error was to enter the wrong house.

I have watched the video several times, and it makes me more furious each time.

I had to be peeled off the ceiling when I read about this. Here's one of the disgusting parts of this story:

“When I asked them to show me, when I asked them to tell me what they are doing in my house, and their response to me was just, shut up and calm down, that’s so disrespectful,” she said.

About 13 minutes into the raid, a female officer who later arrived walked Young to her room so she could get dressed, but put the handcuffs back on afterward. Police continued to question Young while she was clothed.

“Ma’am, there’s no firearms in this place?” the sergeant asked.

“There’s no gun in this place…no, no, no,” Young answered. “I am a social worker…I’ve been a social worker for 20 years. I follow the law. I don’t get in trouble for anything. I don’t do illegal stuff. I’m not that person. You’ve got the wrong information.”

The sergeant then told the affiant officer – the cop who got the warrant – to step outside.

“I want to have a conversation with you, let’s go talk outside,” the sergeant said.

But moments later, the officer’s body camera turned off. CPD did not respond to questions about why the camera was turned off – a pattern CBS 2 found both during wrong raids and in CPD’s every day interactions with civilians.

After nearly 20 minutes, police finally removed the handcuffs. Toward the end of the raid, the sergeant apologized to Young, the video shows.

“I do apologize for bothering you tonight,” the sergeant said. “I assure you that the city will be in contact with you tomorrow.”

“Is there anything I can do right now?” the sergeant also asked.

“Just leave and let me move on, this is so crazy,” Young said, still in tears.

“Again, I do apologize for meeting you this way,” the sergeant said. “I will do everything I can do to get the door fixed.”

Officers then attempted to fix her door with a hammer. When that didn’t work, they tried to wedge an ironing board in between the door.

That's all I have to say about this, until the City forks over a huge sum to her and sends those cops flying to the curb.

It ain't your fault. You're not a Chicago cop.

You treat people with different melanin content with respect and warmth, and that's what matters.

Abner Louima got a "concealed carry permit" after a New York cop sodomized him with a nightstick.

I don't wonder.

No surprise.

Hey, they wedged it with an ironing board. What more do you want?

Cops do shitty stuff because the shitty elected officials let them. The shitty elected officials let them because the shitty voters let them. I really think it's time for billion dollar judgements. Bankrupt the city of Chicago and the problem might get a bit more attention.

Ms. Young needs to sue the city of Chicago into oblivion. A lot of folks who had nothing to do with these policies are gonna take a hit, and that's wrong. But it seems like this is the only way to bring it home to these police departments and local governments sometimes. A disgrace, w/out a doubt.

Since moving away in August of 2019 I've missed a lot about Chicago. The Gestapo-like police force is not one of those things.

I'd be good with "Defund Police Brutality"; I don't feel it mischaracterizes our goals, most of us want a police force but not a brutal police force. I don't mind incorporating the word "defund" either since that seems to be a hill many are willing to die on. In fact, when we do it as "defund police brutality", it actually implies a mechanism: police departments that have a record of good community relations will remain well-funded, while those that practice brutality will get penalized.

A+ NO COMPLAINTS FROM ME ABOUT "DEFUND POLICE BRUTALITY" -- RUN WITH THAT, PEOPLE

While being naked added hugely to the overall trauma of the event, there is a tiny silver lining. They didn't claim she was reaching for a concealed weapon and shoot her 16 times.

Of course if she'd been in public they'd have probably shot her for being naked, so that's not a strategy that could be used in general.

This makes me ill. How can sh*t like this happen in this "great" country?

Naw, just pull a few of the usual lies off the shelf. That'll do.

It's probably still the fault of black folks. If they can't take time to use the oldest Jedi mind trick in the world, I mean...come on! The stormtroopers...I mean the police, would leave right away. Laws and policy changes seem to be too much for us, so I guess that makes as much sense as anything else we're doing.
