At the one my daughter worked in, some of the people had bracelets that sounded an alarm if they tried to open a door to outside. I was there once bringing my daughter her lunch when one of those went off. Scared the bejesus out of me!
Dad had to wear one for a while, but I had a fit to get it removed. He was legally blind and extremely slow, even when he could walk. What's he gonna do? Get to the sidewalk?
$2.1 Billion. One guy. There is nothing that any one person can do in 20 lifetimes that is worth $2.1 billion. Except maybe Jonas Salk, and this guy is no Jonas Salk.
I delivered home-made cloth masks to a nursing home near the Nashoba Valley facility a few weeks ago. The person who took them from me at the door was wearing a Robin (Batman) costume with no mask or gloves - they didn't have any and had to rely on volunteers sewing masks at home for PPE. I haven't been sent back there, so I hope things have changed, but we are still delivering many, many cloth masks to nurses who are taking them to work because they don't have enough.
My mother spent her last 11 months or so in a nursing home, and I will never stop feeling guilty about it. It was totally her choice, money was not a problem- but when it came to home care, she "didn't want any strangers in her house." So it was off to the home. The overwhelmed and underpaid staff was nothing short of heroic, but fuck me. It was awful.
Good christ, that's terrible. So sorry to hear it.
Did they die?
We need a cop to go after all the GOP crime. Also she could pick up some extra votes from confused people who think she's Kat Dennings.
Prisons also too.
Picking oakum doesn’t sound that bad.
Typhus and cholera.
I can’t deal with stories like these now. All I can think is what would happen to my father if he ended up in one of these places.
What I really want to know is why Life Care's logo is a depiction of a caregiver handing an elder a https://uploads.disquscdn.c... lizard?

Life Care Centers routinely understaff below even federal minimum requirements. They are a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Jeez, just put them in the streets already. Anyone over 75 gets you 100 points....
I regret that I have only 1 upvote, etc.
