So, a guy who went to college on a football scholarship and didn’t even graduate thinks it’s bad if other people aren’t spending the rest of their lives paying for their education? https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon has raised to $95.8 billion the estimated cost of fielding a new fleet of land-based nuclear missiles to replace the Minuteman 3 arsenal that has operated continuously for 50 years, officials said Monday.
The estimate is up about $10 billion from four years ago.
The weapons, known as intercontinental ballistic missiles, or ICBMs, are intended as part of a near-total replacement of the American nuclear force over the next few decades at a total cost of more than $1.2 trillion.
About land based missile, this quite literally going out to North Dakota and burying 95.8 billion dollars of taxpayer money in the prairie. For that money we could ensure the extinction of King Crabs by all the takers in society.
but they will put into motion policies that will set us up for long-term failure.
Long-term? They've already blatently said they plan to crash the [world] economy by blocking debt-ceiling increase [again!] so they can blame the fallout on Biden. That's how much they really care about the economy.
"DoILookAmused2u took the government money he don't got and pre-ordered an RME UFX+ which ain't a thang I even know what is" -- Herschel Walker after looking at my order history allegedly.
I graduated college in 1976 (yeah ok fine I'm old --- ish) I lived at home (a townie) and attended a state university. My quarterly tuition was $209; that included the health fee for the free infirmary. It was a total of $627/yr, There was a thriving used book market advertised on bulletin boards all over campus. Professors didn't change books every quarter back then. You bought used for a class then sold the book(s) when you no longer needed it.
The grand total of college tuition for 4 years was $2508. Add another $475 for books and supplies -- Less than $3000 for 4 years. I knew so many people who worked part time and paid for school. One friend drove a school bus for the county and paid for school, food, gas, and rent on a small trailer.
The recent estimate to attend school as I did is now ~ $25,000/year. Still too much, but it is a state school.
I don't believe the education offered is any better, just more expensive - for what seems to be no good reason.
