I have a friend, we don't talk much anymore, who bellyached about having to pay $150 a year for the fire department. But she's outside the incorporated area so they're not "her firefighters" anyway. But maybe her neighbors'...? I don't know how that all works, TTTT. But I though she was looking for things to complain about, since she hadn't had to work for years cuz of a sizeable inheritance. From her mom. Whom she frequently bags on. Or is it "on whom she frequently bags"? Anyway. We live in a society. Like it or not. I pay for roads and traffic lights I don't use. OH WELL.

When ppl find out I'm not a "God" kinda guy, some ask what I believe in. The short answer is "compassion". More accurately I sometimes say I have no beliefs, as they are simply strong opinions, but I recognize the value of and try to practice compassion.

Studies have also shown improved nutritional outcomes, including reduced obesity in low-income children in CEP schools, as well as improved academic performance.

And no conservative will admit to being against those things until you tell them that they'll have to pay for that outcome to occur. Suddenly, fat, stupid poor kids isn't a problem for them.

I worked at a Wendy's a block away from the high school in a very affluent suburb. The kids hit our door at 11:30 every day.

I've always thought it was sad that the richest country on the planet has a tax deduction for teachers buying school supplies with their own money.

Peanut butter has been the base of my nutrition since I was in preschool. I am 74 and it still is. Has all three food groups, salt, sugar and fat. Some protein too.

Yeah but she popularized that attitude in several generations of 12 year olds, mine among them. Most of us (me) outgrew her awful prose and worse ideas by 12 and a half.
