Hmm, DNC is announcing a special surprise guest tonight. I assume it’s probably me.

Pink elephant seen roaming through Washington Heights!

This is part of a tiny park tucked next to an entrance ramp and the Northern walkway of the George Washington Bridge. If you look to the right in the pic you can see a tower of the bridge. Called the George Washington Bridge Park.

The elephant is part of an open sitting area with benches and a couple of tables.

The playground you see in the background is fenced off and I have never seen it unlocked or kids playing there. It is run by volunteers and the only info I could find about it was from 2015 when it was redesigned. The playground is nicknamed “Dolphin Park.”

I have often wondered about the wisdom of putting a playground directly next to the busiest bridge in the world. With a constant flow of traffic including semis that would seem to create a high level of noise and air pollution.
