because educated middle class people always vote, poor uneducated people only vote if you get them excited about the candidate. that used to be the democrats problem when they were the party of poor uneducated people, (see al gore, john kerry, mike dukakis vs barack obama) but now the uneducated poor white people are all republicans so they have to tickle their racist funny bone or else they'll lose like a common mittens romney.
