All the upvotes! As above, although I can't write backwards left-handed. We can be the weird sisters from The Scottish Play, if there's another one of us here...

You're legally supposed to have them by Feb 1, iirc. This was a problem.

Well, a runoff ... if you have not seen Josh Marshall, seehttp://talkingpointsmemo.co...

... The reality is this is an incredibly strong showing. It’s a strong GOP district. This is a dramatic shift in the Democrats’ direction. And Ossoff still has a solid shot in the run off. ...

Not me personally, but I'm pretty flexible about commuting etc. However most people do actually buy houses they're supposed to be able to afford, even with property taxes. Speculators and investors ruin that. So the people who live and work are just supposed to up and move? Where do they go? The exurbs are just as expensive.

What about doctor appointments and healthcare? Texas is already on the shit list there. Over worked doctors and patchwork coverage. And schools. Give up the familiar setting for some place else?

I live in what would be an exurb of Austin already. I drive all over for groceries etc. But there are plenty in Austin proper who live in their walkable neighborhoods and could not travel for groceries because they lack a car. Their house has been their house for decades. They're supposed to just give that up because now it is a hot neighborhood? How is that even right? Money isn't everything. Plenty of people out there think of their house as a home and not an investment or atm.

Yes, true. I have historically given them a few days to get processed in the mail before I freak the fuck out.

How would me moving out of Texas help my coworker who bought her house in 1998 for 100k?

The taxes were less than 2k a year. A person on a salary to buy 100k house can afford a 100k house. They can't afford taxes on a house valued at 300k+ which is what the property value is now with taxes at 9k-10k.

They should sell and rent now? Or move out of the place they've lived and buy a house in the middle of nowhere with shitty roads, no food, no jobs, and no doctors? And honestly, what liveable place would they go to, Ohio? This may surprise you, but Texans actually like Texas. Warts and all.

Nope. That's on the other side of the city. Wish I could vote, but I'm 7th district.
