We would need to clarify what "profiting" off a connection really means--there's not really an ethics code for families of politicians, but to the extent we are going to judge someone as having done something slimy we need to establish what the line was. I'm sure Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush (to use bipartisan examples) have gotten jobs or college admissions that they might not have gotten if not for their famous relations, but then I can't imagine how they could have avoided such benefits (sure they could turn jobs/admissions down, but which ones would they have gotten without the connection?). The Trump kids (yes they're adults, but they are mentally children) are another matter, as they are clearly using federal funds to subsidize their travel and directing federal and favor-seeker funds into their properties. But between those extremes are gray areas. I just don't see how Hunter's taking a job (and promising nothing to his employers about using his connection to his father for them) falls in the corrupt category, and I will push back hard on that one. Republicans are playing the same game they did in 2016.
