So first off, let's get the sorta-apology out of the way. Yesterday, in our story on the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis for being black and in a car with loud music, we said that one of the few good things to note about the media coverage of the murder is that "outside of white supremacist sites, Michael Dunn doesn’t have a lot of support among the Armed Patriot crowd," and we noted that a number of rightwing websites with a stiffy for George Zimmerman were not presenting Davis's killer, Michael Dunn, as a Second Amendment hero. And that's all true, as far as it goes, What we hadn't been aware of is that HLN, CNN's screamy little sibling, has
"Why is he still collecting a paycheck from Turner Broadcasting?"
Because the advertisers probably have no clue that they're supporting the fucker. I think we're due for another "Flush Rush" type of campaign.
You have to be a special kind of crazy racist to carry on like that in this day and age. I've heard old klansmen sound more rational. But they're old. This guy ...
The murder of Jordan Davis didn't have anything to do with white fear of black people. Dunn was not afraid of the kids - he had ample opportunity to leave if he felt in danger. Or he could have gone inside the gas station. The claim that he thought he saw a shotgun was a risible afterthought.
He was just a pissed-off, mean-drunk asshole who knew he had a gun in the glove box and a recently publicized law that gave free license to his urge to show the smirking kids who was boss.
I remember on the old Jerry Springer show how he'd bring a white supremacist on, just for the audience to scream and curse at. HLN would be a better show if they had a call-in line for people to do that. Of course, w/ the kind of people who probably watch Dr. Drew, I might be disappointed.
I kinda thought that HLN had been shut down some time ago, or at least that my cable provider had dropped it. But a quick check revealed that for some unfathomable reason it is still up, but now banished to the number range occupied by such popular channels as CSPAN, CSPAN2, EWTN and TWC. So it's one of those never-viewed channels that you skip right past when you are looking for the good stuff like Animal Planet or Comedy Central. I would imagine that it routinely gets its ratings ass kicked by viewer magnets like the Guide channel and the Public Access channel.
actually, it was a fairly respectable organization back during Gulf War 1 when Ted still was involved. They've been coasting on that ever since

Marginally. It was always Headline News Service at best.

When you put it that way, I can kind of see how lower Manhattan might benefit from a Stand Your Ground law.
I'd advocate separating his head from his body, but I think he already did that.
I regret I have but one upvote.

Mark Garagos referred to HLN during the Zimmerman trial as The Hysterical Ladies Network.
