I’m curious to know how one celebrates “National Pollinators Month.” Also I don’t remember seeing soldiers march people out of their homes to the pride parade.
Ta, Robyn. Apart from June including my birthday (which as happens every so many years, is the day of the NYC Pride Parade), it's HIV Awareness Month and Gun Violence Awareness Month. In honor of the latter, I wear orange every day in June. Usually, it's just my glass bead necklace. Today, I wore hunter orange leggings and a light orange silk turtleneck under my grey cotton dress. I knew Community Health, under which my program falls, was having a Teams meeting this afternoon, and I brought it up. Last night, I went to the LBGTQ Center in the West Village for a screening and panel discussion of the last part of Surviving Voices. I learned a new term: dandelion for lifetime survivors -- adults who were born with HIV and have dealt with their status every day of their lives. And today, I learned from a coworker why orange is the color. Hunters wear orange so they won't be shot by each other. The kids (it started with the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas survivors) chose orange to represent "I'm a human; don't shoot me."
It's LGBTQI Pride Month. It's been Pride Month for DECADES. It shall always so remain. Remember that women's rights are human rights. Gay rights are human rights. Trans rights are human rights. Nonbinary-nonconforming rights are human rights. Intersex rights are human rights. Nothing less; nothing else will do. Ever. Many of us fought for our rights. All of us must fight to keep them.
That name, Peter Tucker, reminds me of something. What could it be? Oh! yes, that's what drag queens do before a performance. Is this where you got your moniker?
If you don't need to hear it, then why do you log in to Wonkette, which is a liberal site? Perhaps you need a captive audience since no one around you wants to listen to your crap.
In a way, veterans are an underserved population - but that's basically only be cause veterans have been promised more, in gratitude for our service, than most Americans, and the promise has never been kept. But we don't need two months named after us. Not to mention he fact that there are plenty of LGBTQIA+ veterans who have served honorably, like Harvey Milk, who has just been dishonored by the current Secretary of Defense.
Of course, being dishonored by the current Secretary of Defense is actually a huge compliment (much like being on Nixon's Enemies List). You have to consider the source.
Yes, and of course you know that and I know that and decent people know that. But thinking ahead, because we know it doesn't mean history will know it in the future. I'm aware of too many people already from history whose names are still being used today as insults who did not do what they are being alluded to for.
It was a lovely service at the Washington National Cathedral this past Sunday, celebrating Pride. The church was pretty full. Sermon was great. People were happy (and some of them gay).
Sorry....I couldn't help it.
The Buffalo Bills celebrated Pride Month, for pete's sake! What about it is a "shambles?"
I like to think I contributed to that with my many Google searches along with thousands and thousands of others.
I used to say people were full of gohmert, but some friends persuaded me that "full of trump" might be a better choice, so apologies to Mary - whom I admire - but that's what I use now.
Hello, I'm Ellie. I am a Christian, and I attend church (via livestream because I am an invalid). I may mention my faith or church because it is part of who I am, as I am sure you may mention aspects of your own life, in comments elsewhere (or here on Wonkette non comments, because comments aren't allowed). I never argue religion.
I also don't eat canned clams.
I see we have interests in common on Substack. Nice to meet you.
Thank you for being nice when the original poster was not. I'm an atheist myself, but I have no problem with religion as long as it is personal and does not turn into politics instead.
Note also that not all churches are identical with one another. I'm guessing your is one of the truly moral ones.
I wish I could claim morality for my entire denomination - but we're human like everyone else, and there's good and bad. On top of that, we are inclusive - we even let the short-fingered vulgarian attend if he wishes - although he didn't think much of the sermon from our beloved Bishop Budde.
Sens. Todd Young (Ind.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) are leading Republican efforts to brand June as “Life Month” during the already celebrated Pride Month. “Every human life is worthy of protection, and it is especially incumbent upon Americans and lawmakers to protect the most vulnerable among us,” Cruz said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ted-cruz-pride-anti-abortion-life-june_n_6841a277e4b04981b63b5f2f
Toddy boy and Teddy boy, you've already rejected protections for the most vulnerable among us: CHILDREN who are already born. Gun violence is now the number one killer of children. I'll never advocate for pediatric cancer (fuck cancer!), but I'd like to see it return to the number one spot of child killers.
Like you protect unwed 13-year-old girls who've been impregnated by their uncle? Like that? Or is it more like the way you're protecting Kilmar Abrego Garcia who is still being held in a torture camp. Is his life sacred? Or perhaps it's the way you're going to deny vaccinations for people who are vulnerable to getting sick? There are just so many ways you prove how sacred you fucking think life is.
AAAAND..Let’s not forget Juneteenth which will also enrage these morons. Would they demand to get rid of that for this Veterans month. I mean they can all be true: Black, gay veterans.
There are two groups that the Federal Government is good at hiring, veterans and minorities.
The proven rapist president TACO hates both.
I mean, he hates everything outside of money and himself, but he does seem to have an extra level of hate for people who put their country before themselves or who have struggled to make something of themselves instead of just relying on daddy's money.
Wait until “SassafrassSuperDipshit Homobigot” finds out that OHNOES there are QUEERS serving in all branches of our military!!!??!!?!?! I hope she has a head esplodey moment and TikTok’s it fucking MAGAT bigot.
Fucking Idaho. Some "very sexually secure" normies are trying to hold a Hetero Awesome festival in the Boise area. Evidently, and unsurprisingly, they are having supreme difficulty attracting musical acts. We also have a Hetero Bar in Eagle, a suburban town full of assholes, LDS, and white flight dipshits from SoCal. Reportedly, their 1/2 price hetero male happy hour was devoid of customers. Sad trombone. Have a great weekend, Wonkers.
One of the things I did a shit-ton of while working for the Texas Lege was writing resolutions and proclamations designating various days/weeks/months to be in honor of name-your-favorite-group-or-cause. Almost all of which were complete BS, because we couldn't make anything the "official" damn anything. We were, however, "pleased to join the members of XXXX Group and Texans across the state in celebrating Aprilember 36, 2025, as XXXX Group Day in Texas.
See, we're just joining them in their celebration. If you want to make something official, well, that shit has to go through committee and be voted on by the whole body. Ain't nobody want to mess with that.
I believe that Pride Month is supposed to be in shambles. If not, where's the fun in it?
Note that shambles is better than hateful bigotry any time of the year.
So, how do they feel about homosexual veterans? I think I have a pretty good idea.

Come back after the mid-terms and we'll try to staunch the bleeding.
If you don't need to hear it, then why do you log in to Wonkette, which is a liberal site? Perhaps you need a captive audience since no one around you wants to listen to your crap.
Fuck, it seems like it was only 3 months ago that we went through this shit *last* year.
These people are so fucking tiresome.

CIS GOP wypipo say it is...so it MUST be a "shambles".
Well, I'm CIS DEM. wypipo and I say they're full of trump, and they should kiss my big blue butt.
I think you've got something there with "full of trump." Check out this site to see how it could work:

I never do.
BTW, you have to be careful about mentioning canned clams around here.
As a Viet Nam Era veteran, I think 11/11 is quite enough, thank you.
Did you ever think you would see veterans worshiping a draft dodger?
Me neither.
I know. I have 2 cousins in particular who are MAGAts. We don't talk much anymore.
I remember it, I'm not living it.

I'd rather it got number 2, just behind polio. And not because Kennedy succeeded in making polio great again.
Also fuck cancer.
Yeah, I just got an emailed response from my congresscon, Nick Langworthy, using similar words to my objection to removing the rights of trans people.

Spoiler: It’s not about patriotism.
We all contain multitudes.

Wonder why that is.
You’d think that he’d be grateful for those “bone spurs”.
Somehow, they don't prevent him from playing golf every weekend...
Like republicans actually care about families.

Idaho is becoming a third world country.
Many parts have been for some time. Fortunately, I reside in Boise's liberal containment zone, AKA, the North End, so I can pretend otherwise!
Stop shoving gay business in Matt Walsh's face! And cramming it down his throat!
He’s perfectly ok with a little ass play no doubt. LOL! Who am I fooling? He gets zero play.
He can only swallow so much ghey cocks while claiming outrage so DON’T! STOP!

XXXX Group Day. I think I'd go the extra mile and make that official for those folks.
