Believe it or not I actually remember when Andrew Cuomo did some good stuff, thirty-five or forty years ago. He established a sweat-equity program in the outer boroughs where there were buildings that had been abandoned by their real estate owners who thought NYC was a shithole and moved to Florida.
And what Cuomo did then, along with his father's help, was get a law passed that allowed the city to take over those abandoned buildings and let the residents and other homeless people fix them up, bring them up to code, and take title to them. They became either coops or condos, as I recall.
This all took place when, I believe, Hugh Carey was governor, and was a main reason that Bill Clinton named Cuomo Assistant Secretary for Planning & Development under the Secretary of HUD.
How the decent and progressive fall into the wilderness of indecent (double extended by design) and regressive!
Andrew Cuomo is a walking, talking bag of dicks. He's a credibly accused sex pest and quite probably hasn't had an original thought in his entire life; he certainly hasn't had one in the last...oh...twenty or so years. He doesn't even bother to verify correct information on what his opponent has actually proposed. Much easier for Cuomo to lie and make shit up. Isn't that how the Repubbies conduct their campaigns? Perhaps Cuomo would do better to run as a Republican--he definitely tells lies like one.
300 million for a vanity project, murdering people on boats in the Caribbean, 40 billion to Argentina, cutting Medicaid and food stamps which means hungry children never mind the adults, staggering increases in health insurance premiums, causing rural hospitals to close, and posting AIs like the shit-dropper and Vought as the grim reaper. This is one caring President who has violated his oath over and over. Wait until this stuff hits the MAGAs.
Men with diabetes and hypogonadism who received testosterone therapy had lower risks for acute kidney injury, kidney failure requiring replacement therapy, cardiovascular events, and all-cause mortality than those who did not receive the treatment...
I know at least a half dozen menfolk who've convinced their doctors to get them going on T therapy for "mood and muscle". With the ubiquity of Type II diabetes, this will give lots of mens the argument they need

So I have been writing a subplot arc for my long-running SF story, wherein Terra's pretty much a global environmental disaster (you can look at the Sun without squinting, the sky's uniformly gray, and you need a filter mask if you go outside). The ruler, balked at the government's insistence that fixing it can't be done, enlists the planetary AIs and the head of the secret police to come at the problem from another angle.
That angle is to prop a guy up as the public face of a business consortium dedicated to the planet's rehabilitation, and to drum up some popular support he goes around to various cities on Terra to talk about his 'vision.'
Of course, left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. This minisode is - well, let's say it might be somewhat topical: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/62724345/

Wonder what happened to all the people who could not afford to go.
The party of people who complained about Obama putting his feet on the desk are now saying that "the libs" are whiny because they object to the East Wing of the White House being destroyed.
I'm interested to see if they think this should a Democratic President tear down the ballroom.
It'll be like the renaming. They whined about the Libs being so mad about names and wasting all that money on names
But not a peep about asshole re-renaming and spending lots more money, all without congressional oversight or approval one might add, unlike the other renaming that DID have approval, funding, and even a law.
Whenever someone says fine, we'll just change it back, they go back to whining about costs. Never batting an eye
Wouldn't surprise me. I saw he went on TV yesterday to try and deflect the criticism. The renderings of the ballroom are appalling. Many People Are Saying
Norman Solomon on how the U.S. went from Clinton's 'welfare reform' to MAGA . . .
'The Democratic establishment now denounces Trump’s vicious assaults on vital departments and social programs. Unfortunately, three decades ago it cleared a path that led toward the likes of the DOGE wrecking crew. A clarion call in that direction came from President Bill Clinton when, in his 1996 State of the Union address, he exulted that “the era of big government is over.”
'. . . While disparaging advocates for the marginalized as impediments to winning the votes of white “moderates,” the New Democrats embraced corporate America. I still have a page I tore out of Time in December 1996, weeks after Clinton won reelection. The headline said: “Ex-Investment Bankers and Lawyers Form Clinton’s Economic Team. Surprise! It’s Pro-Wall Street.”
'That was the year when Clinton and his allies achieved a longtime goal — strict time limits for poor women to receive government assistance. “From welfare to work” became a mantra. Aid to Families with Dependent Children was out and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families was in. Just like three years earlier, when he was able to push NAFTA through Congress only because of overwhelming Republican support, Democratic lawmakers were divided and Clinton came to rely on overwhelming GOP support to make “welfare reform” possible.
'. . . But addressing the root of economic systems that oppress Americans is exactly what the Democratic Party leadership, dependent on big corporate donors, has rigorously refused to do. Looking ahead, unless Democrats can really put up a fight against the pseudo-populism of the rapacious and fascistic Trump regime, they are unlikely to regain the support of the working-class voters who deserted them in last year’s election.'

for a med thing.
Also, it's like a 7% lower chance. While any chance is a good chance, idk if we could really say there is a huge leap here
What I find interesting is the lengths people will go and the vanity involved...
The kidney one is a little more promising. Like 16%. Still not a fantabulous chance, but a little more interesting.
So there's actually a benefit to testosterone therapy that *isn't* about erections.

what could possibly go wrong
I've compiled a shopping list for my Thanksgiving dinner, and the menu is:
Grilled turkey thighs with mole sauce
Sausage-apple dressing
Creamy succotash with bacon and chives
Pumpkin-cranberry bread for dessert
I think a nice bottle of a Pinot Noir to drink with the dinner.
Mole sauce is interesting stuff depending on how it's made. I've had some that I loved and some that I would never want again. It's hard to know what you're going to get when you order in a Mexican restaurant (the only place I've had it was Mexico).
I feel like the Wanderer’s Thanksgiving menu comes earlier each year!
Prior planning, etc.
And I get bored sometimes.
How many moles do you need to make the sauce?
😆
Today being Mole Day, only 6.022.
Is that right? I'm on food stamps, which are about to disappear.
I also donate to charities and food banks.
Why on earth would you “like” my food stamp comment?
Most the time people do that in solidarity sort of thing. Like an "I see you and understand"
Wanderer ?
What Jen said.

What time is dinner?
Succotash! So, so good.
Yeah. Been a while since I had it, and this recipe is very appealing.
I had to look it up. (Like...what kind of vegetable is a succotash? Some kind of strange squash?) I was obviously clueless. It sounds pretty good.
It’s Lima beans and corn cooked together; this recipe adds sauteed onions and heavy cream.

Never too soon to remind people Xmas is coming and pray that folks will spend money. I'm pretty sure sales will be way down this year.

The working class deserted the Democrats in the last election of 2024 because of something Clinton did in the 90s to the working poor?
I ain't saying I totally agree with him . . . there are a few valid points (admittedly, Solomon has always seemed to dislike Clinton) . . .
