The goal is to make things so dysfunctional and untenable that even reasonable-minded folks will be begging for a Constitutional Convention. From there, in combination with Citizens United and Cruz v FEC, the feeding frenzy will begin, allowing the donor class to rewrite all of the rules to their liking.

After they shut down the government for a couple of weeks the rest of the people who passed the original deal will go around their backs and reinstate the deal. We just have to wait for the performative bullshit and the pain to the general populace first.

Maybe. Not in 2018, 2020, or 2022 though. He hurt down ballot candidates too

Only for people who don't know how a constitutional convention works.

2/3 of the House, Senate, and States to call for it. Any changes have to be ratified by 2/3 of the House and Senate, and 3/4 of the States.

They wish to alter the deal, and make those around them fear they might alter it further. Unfortunately, while they have the heavy breathing down, nobody in the Klan-hoods and Drinking Their Own Urine caucus has ever managed to strangle anyone with their mind. Or even crush their head with their fingers and one eye closed!

Sounds like the Howler Monkey Caucus took Kevin to the woodshed after their little temper tantrum last week. It’s hard to negotiate with House republicans if we don’t know who has custody of Kevin’s balls from one week to the next.

this seems an easy fix. They want another $120 billion cut out of the budget? Fine. 100% of it comes from Defense.

I mean, how much do we have to give to the military when Trump's already revealed our vulnerabilities to everyone?

My state did something like that. All the Democrats in the state House of Representatives threw their weight behind a Republican who had enough support in his caucus to deny the Speakership to the guy everyone already knew was going to be in charge.

Of course, it didn't begin to slow down the horrendous, Florida-copying legislation they started pumping out, being Republicans and all, but the Dems did fuck over two powerful Republicans, the guy who didn't get the job and the guy who got it.

I'm gonna go with being more pissed with the legislative terrorists themselves. Their performative shutdown is going to do what it always does, fuck over the most vulnerable people for no good reason and then fall apart because their entire strategy is "Make them do what we want." The Dems have absolutely no control over that.

As harmful as it will be, it won't begin to compare to the global catastrophe that would have resulted from defaulting.
