You may be surprised to learn that the GOP wants to repeal and replace a thing, but this time they actually have a replacement for the thing they want to repeal!
The 2008 law signed by President George Bush was the William Wilberforce Law to limit trafficking in children as sex slaves. It states the US cannot just ship back any child coming to the US from a nation with which we don't share borders.
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is President Obama's 2011 law that dependent children brought to the US of A by their parents before 2007 may temporarily remain here while we work to deport real criminals, etc.
MattGMD: No question about it! Also the drug gangs in El Salvador started by people we deported after serving prison time here in the USA. Then there's the blowback from President Reagan's Iran-Contra debacle.
Bottom Line: Our meddling in the affairs of Central American nations has a great deal to do with this! You betcha!
