You may be surprised to learn that the GOP wants to repeal and replace a thing, but this time they actually have a replacement for the thing they want to repeal! The thing they want to repeal and replace this time isDACATVPRA*, the 2008 law signed by George W. Bush that says that children from places that are neither Canada nor Mexico can't be summarily turned around at the border, but must have their day before an immigration judge to see whether they qualify for refugee status -- and that while they're waiting that year or decade, they can't be put in Baby Jail, but must be held in the least restrictive way possible.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is President Obama's 2011 law that dependent children brought to the US of A by their parents before 2007 may temporarily remain here while we work to deport real criminals, etc.
MattGMD: No question about it! Also the drug gangs in El Salvador started by people we deported after serving prison time here in the USA. Then there's the blowback from President Reagan's Iran-Contra debacle.
Bottom Line: Our meddling in the affairs of Central American nations has a great deal to do with this! You betcha!
