“It actually isn’t that tough a vote to expel a pathological liar and serial grifter who’s under federal indictment. However, the likely Republican presidential nominee…”

At first I thought that last was referring to Santos, and I just rolled with it.

You can’t expel Boy George Anthony Devolder Santos because he doesn’t exist. “From now on, you will wear sweater/blazer combos. You will have plastic surgery and leave no identifying marks of any kind. You will eat at the House cafeteria and conform to the identity assigned to you by the GOP. You are a rumor, recognized only as deja vu and dismissed just as quickly. You don’t exist, you were never even born. Anonymity is your name, lying your native tongue. You are no longer part of the system. You are above the system. You are a conservative and you’ll do the bidding of the GOP because we can’t afford to lose a seat.”

And Texas AG Ken Paxton, acquitted on all corruption charges brought in his impeachment, is now suing Pfizer for "misrepresenting" Covid-19 vaccination.

Well, naturally he was acquitted. It's Chinatown ... uh, Texas.

Lawsuits against Donald Trump for "misrepresenting" ivermectin and antiseptic, anyone?

Yet, Mike Johnson is also concerned about the “precedent that may be set” if the House holds Santos to any real standards.

What if they just started throwing people out of office willy-nilly just because they are lying traitorous scumbags? I think the precedent Johnson is worried about is "what if that encourages voters to start getting rid of all the lying traitorous scumbags? Would there be enough republicans left to hold a decent poker game?"

Santos could solve all his problems by kidnapping Rep. Hageman and assuming her identity. Tell me I'm wrong:

what if he does this thinking he is getting expelled and then he doesn't! so he has to live both lives at once. hijinks ensue when he forgets he scheduled dates for both of them at restaurants across the street from each other. it's like "Dave" combined with "Mrs. Doubtfire".

Oh, so now it's wrong to be a sitting congressman, and be a known serial liar and thief? When did this become a thing? Next thing you know I'll hear that the cocaine fueled orgies Madison Cawthorn didn't want to attend are no longer allowed! FUCK! What's the point of even getting elected to Congress? You might as well work at a damned Walmart.

Republicans should not be able to get away with letting Dems take care of their Santos problem for them. He's their caucus member. *They* need to expel him. If they can't find the votes on their own side to take care of someone so manifestly corrupt and dishonest, well, that's on them.

You'd think Devout, Bible-Believing Christian™ Mike Johnson would be slightly more concerned about a pathalogical liar and grifter in his caucus. But I guess even Jesus, knowing Judas was going to betray him, held back at actually kicking the guy out of the group, amirite?

It seems to me the metaphor could be constructively rewritten:

Republicans, at least, clearly can elect a ham sandwich. And one that has repeatedly committed fraud.

(Okay, so he’s really more a ham.)

Expelled when he's only been indicted and not convicted? Hell yes!

Elected officials should be held to higher standards than the average populace, and the average populace would be bounced on its collective ass by its employer long before we got to this point.
