Numerous analysists have opined that laws claiming to prevent fraudulent voting, will actually make voting much more difficult or impossible for many people. In other words, there are people that are willing to vote and want to, but will be prevented by the anti-fraud laws. That is what I mean by "disenfranchised".
What do you understand the word to mean? I want to make sure we're using the same definition, to avoid confusion and bad feeling.
Does this make you feel good? Do you pull your wanker every time you call Democrats some childish name? Facts are facts. 90% of actual, criminal voter fraud is Republicans. Look it up.
But extensive investigations into the 2020 election showed virtually NO election fraud. What's the point in laws which so aggressively aim to prevent something that's not happening?
If it's Australia Granny's talking about (which I suspect, because Democracy Sausage), we do indeed have mail-in and absentee voting, not to mention early voting. No excuse is required for any of them, and the only thing you have to ask for in advance, is postal voting.
There are special roving polling officers who go to places where it's difficult for people to get to ordinary polling places - hospitals, remote Aboriginal communities, nursing homes and prisons. PRISONS, you say? Yes. Prisoners with a sentence of 3 years or less, are entitled to vote while in jail. Longer than that and you have to wait until you're released (including parole). Just notify the Electoral Commission of your change of address.
The only way for an Australian citizen to be permanently disenfranchised is (a) relinquish your citizenship (b) be declared permanently incompetent to manage your own affairs (my mother was taken off the roll due to dementia) or (C) be convicted of treason. As in, literal Treason.
But then, OUR elections, election rolls and seat boundaries are controlled by an independent non- partisan commission. NOT the political party in fucking power, which... I'm sorry to say it, but that is so fucking Banana Republic and SCREAMINGLY open to abuse that I was absolutely boggled when I learnt that's how the US does things.
We aren't perfect, but BY GOD we run free and fair elections.

I hear you, I was being sarcastic.
Stop that! This is a sincerely held believable mommyblog!
Naked, in a tree.
Sarcasm? Well fuck me runnin'...I may have to reevaluate a few things.
Satirical is the better word. My bad.
You just missed it on MADDOW.
Remind me again, how many cases of voter fraud have been successfully prosecuted from the 2020 election?
And how many were Republicans.
