When I say 'safe', I am speaking of the view of world wide investors as expressed by current bond rates, something that even despite the ignorance and evil of Trump is likely to continue. The only developed nation that is more attractive to investment than the US is Switzerland and they have a laughably small economy for international investment on the scale of investment in the US. There isnt a single other developed country in the world with a population above 15 million that exceeds the growth rate of the US, even setting aside the cost of our military and our martial dominance over every other non-allied nation COMBINED.

The risks posed by our 'Idiot in Chief' has already been priced into the bond market by the 1 trillion dollar 'Trump Tax' that occurred to our bond markets after election:

Our bond market isnt hurting for investors and even 'The Donald' is unlikely to change that to any real extent. The worse off the rest of the world is doing and the more corrupt the Chinese government and economy is, the better our bond market will do by comparison.

Have a great day!

I have a feeling it's Taiwan that will suffer the wrath of this episode. Sure, they bought some guns and stuff but the US, for example, fought a bloody civil war when the Confederates declared they should really be independent, too. Trump has demonstrated that to him dictators and fascists are at least as valuable as "democracy" when it comes to having partners/making money and the democracy/capitalism were the reason we were cozy with the offshoot Taiwan over mainland China. If it comes down to a choice between militarily defending Taiwan or making a bunch of money off China, I suspect the Taiwanese can take a leap in a Trump administration.

And who is it that would join a fight with China over an island even the US has agreed for generations is a part of China already? There's some stupid reasoning in just flipping China the bird here and pretending we can handle however they respond. Japan is most certainly on our side regarding China, but only to the extent they don't want China invading them, not after that last war they had. There's no terrorism, there's nothing but a civil matter at hand and the US will be on their own starting a potentially nuclear conflict over trade and diplomatic protocols.

If that transpires, if China just decides this is the last straw on Taiwan, the resulting capitulation or inevitable defeat of any US/Taiwanese defense will send a loud, strong signal to the rest of Asia who is really in charge. this was not the fight to start.

I remember having a discussion with my grandmother about this very issue, yes she truly believed she was eating the body of Christ and drinking his blood, not a symbol. I could not believe this very smart woman was so freakin' dumb. One other thing that contributed to being an atheist.

My story is a bit different. I saw through the bullshit of religion when I was about 8 years old. Being forced to go to church, catechism and a catholic school just reinforced my disdain for religion. I'm pretty sure it drove me to atheism by the time I reached high school.

You really think the world will keep seeing Treasuries as a safe investment with Trump running the country and a Congress full of people happy to recreate the conditions that led to 2008's collapse? And China just might decide taking a bath is worth it if it weakens us enough to give them a South East Asian hegemony and Taiwan under their rule.

And who would really care about Taiwan if Mao had not been a big, bad old Red Commienist when he kicked our dear little buddy Cash My Chek out of mainland China.

Right? This is quite annoying... Also, he keeps talking about the 35% tax he's gonna apply to businesses operating in other countries. Carrier is sending more than half of the jobs (Trump promised to save) to Mexico still. They get $7 billion in tax-payer donations. Not extra taxes/penalties. Bigger than that is how all of Trump's stuff is manufactured in other countries...is he gonna bring jobs back or tax himself? Wait...what's that? He's twatting about SNL again?

If nothing else, 2016 has taught me that you can have absolutely zero political experience, overcome piles of scandals, even be a truly horrible person & still become President. Unless of course, you're a lady :(
