Why do I feel like I need South Park so much right now? Like I just need their courage and blatant FU to Trump, Carr and the whole authoritarian regime. The harder Trump and his toadies try to snuff out dissent and accountability, the more bitting and disparaging the satire becomes, and almost impossibly quickly. Carr threatened Disney only a week before South Park roasted him. That’s an amazing turnaround. In the episode, Carr’s arm is frozen in a nazi sieg heil after Trump nearly kills him trying to abort Satan’s butt baby, and he’s wearing a badly soiled diaper and some device over his mouth. The real Carr feigned outrage when Kimmel said a pretty bland comment about the right insisting the Kirk shooter couldn’t possibly be a righty, but 10 days later he ends up a cartoon buffoon frozen in a Nazi salute with a poopy diaper. But THAT content is apparently ok. And now we have the next Trump stooge to step into a pile of their own shit, as this breathtakingly unqualified young attorney tries to indict a former FBI chief for hurting Trump’s feelings.
I think Trey and Matt know they are in very rare company - one of the only widely watched platforms that can still say almost anything about Trump and this government, however unflattering, and get away with it. I’d give ALOT to be privy to their discussions right now. My guess is that they are pushing back on the free speech reprisals on purpose, as much a political protest as artistic expression. I’m not sure it’s accurate to say they are daring Trump and Carr to silence them, but it seems like the more authoritarian Trump gets, the more grotesque their depiction of him. Good for them.
Brendan was foolish enough to chase the president after he greased the stairs, then he was smothered with cat shit and litter where he contracted Toxoplasmosis!
in other news, when my toe is hanging out with other toes, I am cool with that. When my toe is hanging out the end of my sock and I gotta tromp around this joint in steel toed boots for the next ten hours, not so cool.
In less than happy local news, an acquaintance of the "shade tree mechanic" sort, twenty something, also does some speedshop work. Apparently a project of his had a catastrophic failure ("Fuckin' thing threw a rod!!!"). No traumatic amputation, but an orthopedic surgeon is in his future. We'll be calling him Lefty for awhile.
From the description of things, he's going to have some conversation starting scars and some interesting X-rays... There's still discussion on what kind of functionality will be restored.
My brother once put his arms through a plate glass window and yanked em back out, which was worse. Has allll sorts of scarring there. Took forever for him to use his arms again, a year or so.
Used to tell girls the scars were shark bites XD They did look like shark bites.
I hope full functionality will be restored. He is young enough that it will hopefully come close!
I received a "pretty interesting" scar as a result of a scaffold accident on the job. When it was new and livid, people would ask about it.
"You know how they have those long, curved swords out there in the Middle East? "Scimitars", they're called? Well I fell and on the way down, got hooked on a nail..."
The $100K H1-B visa fee is called an "talent tariff" by the usual libertarian douchecanoes in Silicon Valley. Well, douchebros, maybe if you invested in the educational system in AMERICA, it wouldn't be a problem. Short sighted, whiny ass babies ... all of them.
Everything about H1-B visas is set by Congress. Pepsodunce has no authority to alter even a single comma of the fees, rules, quotas and classifications of the program.
Where I worked they laid off about 2/3s of I.T. staff then contracted that work to India. The off-shore workers were paid prevailing wage in India. A few H1-B workers came over from India as liaisons. And my job (not laid off) became project manager for the India teams.
Even when, on paper, H1-B visa holders are paid the same as a citizen would be, their employers can and often do still exploit them. Loading them with more work, keeping them longer (in jobs that are often salary, so don't pay overtime), all because loss of the job also carries the threat of deportation.
mmm. Maybe people will get their heads out of their asses and realize that politics does affect them daily, and that anything is better than a fascist.
So AI is outperforming the experts. Given how AI works, there's no reason to believe that it won't continue to outperform the experts in a downturn. I would be more concerned with it deciding that the patterns indicate you are trying to loose money, regardless of the type of market.
OT; the sky turns a particular shade here at sunset

Because he’s ignorant, and wields too much power.
So, the Republican dream of sixty years fulfilled.
Our current political situation is a Black Swan event.
There is no precedent.
Black Death is more like it.

soooooo.... the new tariff announcements are fun.
JD must have really displeased Dear Leader for the upholstered furniture tariffs. That one is too targeted for any other reason.
Better buy the IKEA stuff.

Elon Musk's AI appears to be more ideological than competitors

No bid, cost+, zero oversight contracts, complete with kickbacks, quid pro quo offers for life after politics...
Who cares because we'll all be billionaires!
remember when pay for play was a bad thing to the press?
Elon Musk's AI appears to be more ideological than competitors
And we have a winner for understatement of the week.
Any note on how it is more ideological because whenever it steps out of line Musk reprograms it?
And the fact it is trained on the posts to his nazi social media site?
^^^!!!
Question of the upcoming week: What illegal act/order will Secretary of Drunken War do/give at upcoming BSUSA Jamboree?
Lead them in a trilling round of pledging allegiance to Dear Leader and a Tomorrow Belongs To Me sing along?
Don't forget the prayer circle and the Trump bibles to be given out!
I'd like to see him run a hundred yard dash. Of course, that would give us

That. One of the many things we need to fix is that right there.
I was raptured on Tuesday! But to my living room.

I let a drunk monkey throwing darts choose my investments. (I don't have the monkey. I subscribe to merrilllynch.com which has licensed monkeys.)
What do experts know? I am totes gonna use the bot that induces people into suicide to pick my stocks for me. What could possibly go wrong?
Wouldn't *you* buy stocks chosen by MechaHitler? (I know, different company, but ...)
I'd go to a human advisor except I can't be sure they'll hallucinate.
We had one of them, but the company that my company pays decided to do away with them. You can have one again if you pay them even more.
Well, if the advisor offers you mushrooms ...
