If all I owed was the principal I'd be home free. But the interest looks down on that relatively puny figure now and laughs and laughs. I don't know how many of those "spam risk" calls I keep getting these days are student loan collectors, because I never answer them, and my voice mail box has been disabled for about 10 years now. I never see any mail. I don't think they even know I'm alive anymore. So I'll keep my head down as far under the table as possible and continue to take my lumps. I knew exactly what I was getting into when I decided to become the first (and, unfortunately, still only) person in my family's history to earn a degree. Pops always said I was too big for my britches. And sho nuff.
eliminating for profit universities and colleges would also help. as would eliminating degrees that don't lead to a career path - or at least dropping the expense of degrees that lead to a career path compared to those that don't
