One thing that gives me hope at times like this is that the dictators Shitler et al are trying to emulate, from Franco and Mussolini right up to Orban, Putin, Xi, Prince Bonesaw, etc all rule(d) in nations and societies where power has *always* been held at the point of a spear, a sword, or the barrel of a gun; at least for (most) white people in this country, we very much have a rich tradition of not that, and a deep, ingrained aversion to being told what to do, even when we’re told it’s for our own good.
I have the sound off but Johnson is getting a standing O every 5 seconds or so...hoping Trump will say something truly awful and create a sound bite that will be played over and over and not in a good way... My, look at all the White folk on the GOP side....pardon me, White men with a couple of worthless exceptions.
What Mr. Miller doesn't realize is that he falls in a particular demographic that will be relentlessly purged by the same gestapo he's creating....and he will be very upset when they come for him.
I know I'm not alone. I'm certain there are others here being faced with the same unpleasant dilemma. My wife and I run a small business in a small very Red town. So far we have been able to disguise our utter disgust with this administration by simply saying "Oh, we're not that interested in politics, and don't really pay that much attention to what those people in Washington are doing, doesn't concern us much" More and more of late, some of our clients have been pressing us to take some public position. Letting it out that we despise Trump would cause us to lose more than we can afford to lose. It angers us beyond words that these people have been able to instill this level of loyalty in their followers and put us in this awkward position. It's just not right!
It's truly not right. We lost our biz in 2005 after going public as democrats. The politics was a little less insane but we were humiliated and became pariahs in our town. Tread carefully. With today's politics, more than just your business may be at stake.
I'm betting Trump will hold a triumphant incoherent presser right after the vote...and any reporter who asks him a question based in reality will get slammed by that ignorant baby clod.
