I hope Brooke won't mind me hijacking her comments just a bit, but I wanted to remind you filthy fuckaducks that Wonkette Book Club is back, baby!

We’ll read Bill McKibben’s "Here Comes the Sun," on how solar energy (and wind ‘n’ storage) can stop climate change & remake the world’s economies with justice for all ... IF we do it right.

More here!

Apparently, when I said "Note to self: Never piss Brooke off" I shoulda just addressed it to the general public.

Maybe a note to Governor Good Hair would be in order

I have a significant suspicion he was involved in the impetus of the "settlement" that resulted in the merger one of whose subsidiaries just made the decision to censor / block Bleecker Street & any references to Alex Gibney's MUSK documentary from their TikTok platform

https://bsky.app/profile/bubbaprog.xyz/post/3my3xtmemm2pe

and I suspect that no matter how Good Hair got to that decision, I don't believe he thought it through that well at all

theCryptofishist's avatar

A decision better or worse than marrying Guillfoyle?

"M"'s avatar

My personal response is "worse"

In part, because of what Robyn said in her piece about her fraudulating in Greece about how different she was when she profiled her back in the day

but also because this decision affects WAY more people because fElon skuM is pro-apartheid evil with literal Nazis in his bloodline & he's trying to control an entire country

YMMV

Craig Nixon's avatar

Could there even BE a worse decision than marrying Kim Gargoyle??

Trump: I do not want to lose $90 billion for the privilege of allowing Canada to have a healthcare system and other things that they shouldn't have. They spend our money!

OT: Today is the first day of The Bad Week. Two years ago today, Sergei went into the hospital for the last time. I'm probably going to be a fucking disaster off and on. Our wedding was on the 22nd. On the 23rd his body gave out. This is not the way things are supposed to be. We were supposed to get old together.

Peace and strength to you. Loss hurts.

All love to you.,.so sorry for the loss and the pain. We love and it hurts,

I'm all loaded up and wrapped and sealed for my sister's birthday tomorrow. I'm taking her out to dinner, with presents to come first (or maybe afterwards -- her choice, she's the birthday girl).

I got her two books -- one she asked for, and one she didn't but I know for sure she really wants to read. (It's "Regime Change." Yes, she loathes Trump as much or more than I.)

Plus a container of CBD topical cream. That stuff works wonders on my joint and muscle discomfort. I'm hoping it will do some good for her many aches and pains. Although her worst affliction right now is lupus -- dunno if the CBD cream will be any good for that.

Plus an allegedly funny birthday card, the humor enhanced with a Ben Franklin inside.

Plus three cupcakes from my town's gourmet bakery, which neither of us really should have but fuck it.

I don't know why I ended up making such a BFD about my sister's birthday. It's just going to be the two of us, as it has been for many years. I guess it's because there's no one else around for me to spoil on their birthday. I've just started sending presents to my grand-niece and -nephews, but they live in the next state.

I think she'll have a good time.

What a lucky think to have a sister to spoil, and to be able to do so. I hope you both have a great time.

At this point, I think Trump has about the status of a burner phone with the oligarchs, so they are abusing him for all he's worth. He can't say no because they own him. Without them, he would certainly not be President, and might even be in prison. Of course, he always did their dirty deeds, but they needed him for his uncanny popularity with the great unwashed. With his popularity on the wane, he has no cards, as they say. So when they say treason, he asks how high.

My rigatoni with sausage sauce turned out nice. I have my big meal at lunchtime.

There is plenty for leftovers. Italian is something that improves in the fridge overnight.

gallbladder's avatar

Anything with sauce deepens with time, especially curries.

Anna-Elizabeth's avatar

OOh, I need to make curry soon.

Babe Paley's avatar

We had the simple minestrone (my mom makes a delicious version that takes two days and I wasn’t up for that). Enough for tomorrow also.

We’re lucky to have leftovers, you and I!

Anna-Elizabeth's avatar

Yum!

And, oh yes. Cook once, eat for several meals. Leftovers are a blessing. About ten years ago I went hungry every day.

"Kimberly Guilfoyle is facing a new round of unproven allegations from a critic, this time involving claims of secret payments, Iranian oil smugglers and drug use around the former Trump ambassador’s time in Greece."

Jonathan Constantine, chairman of the Hellenic chapter of Republicans Overseas, made the allegations in an interview with Trump donor Eric Deters, who had promised new revelations about Guilfoyle following her abrupt departure. Deters opened the segment by calling Guilfoyle “the most obnoxious, wicked, evil, manipulative, pushy” person he had ever known."

Guitarist Barney Kessel was born on this day in 1923. As a member of the Wrecking Crew, Kessel played the opening of the Beach Boys' song "Wouldn't It Be Nice" on a hybrid 12-string mando-guitar:

Do you suppose Putin had Lindsay Graham killed? Just asking questions.

paperlesstiger's avatar

Putin shot a couple of rockets at him in Kyiv. For all we know he came home in a box. His funeral was a closed coffin.

"M"'s avatar

That was my very first thought when we heard he died

I'm honestly surprised we didn't hear that question asked more than we did

MRK's avatar

No.

Graham was an old man in a stressful job who could easily have missed warning signs about whatever health problem got him.

There might be various challenges with spending the money if 40 passes, but presumably that can all be worked out. Get it passed first (and stifle the poison-pill props).

Oh, and screw Gavin Newsom. Every time I see his name in the news, I like him less.

Good luck, California. Show us the way.
