El-Sayed is at some disadvantage having not been in politics, although he has a record of helping lots of people in his medical career, but attempting to portray Stevens as a do-nothing is a poor shot and fits a pattern of his denigrating other effective female voices (he also disparages Michelle Obama and Gretchen Whitmer).

His only substantive critique of Stevens is that she takes money from AIPAC and has been pro-Israel. Apparently he is going for single-issue "Free Palestine" voters, who are not a majority in Michigan.
Wasn’t judging the appropriateness of the attack, on what seems by the way to be El-Sayed’s take on her policies/record, but merely Tapper purposely being obtuse about a very common phrase/critique.
It’s as insulting as Louisiana Senator John Kennedy pretending he’s Foghorn Leghorn when he is a Rhode Scholar who went to Cambridge (in England).
While I wouldn't defend Tapper against a charge of obtuseness, I did interpret him as asking why El-Sayed would use that kind of phrase about her. His own political record, after all, is zero so he can talk all he wants about what he thinks he's going to do but without any indication he knows how to accomplish anything of the sort.
Well, I think we disagree. Especially when he acknowledged El-Sayed actually condemning personal attacks on Stevens while minimizing the absolute Islamophobia and personal attack at El-Sayed with nary a word.
Tapper also cited “The Washington Free Beacon” as if they are an objective source for another attack later, which added to the totality of evidence gave me the conclusion of Tapper playing things up for what the like of Bari Weiss/The Ellisons would reward.
The only thing I would count as a personal attack on El-Sayed is something that hasn't even been raised in this thread: the Stevens ad emphasizing that Haley was the only candidate who wasn't a millionaire; to be fair it came out when there was a third candidate in the race, but now it is attacks El-Sayed because the medical profession is well-paid and he's been in the top tier of it for a while; it is reassuring of course that Stevens has cleared the low bar of not using political office for personal profit (something we can no longer take for granted from either Dems or Reps) but I hear an implication that El-Sayed would favor moneyed interests, which I do not think is fair.
I'm not going to defend Tapper, but as a Michigander sick of this campaign I have to say that I find it downright Trumpish for El-Sayed to say he "condemns" personal attacks on Haley when he really hasn't had any substantive disagreements with her (there are no Democrats around here who are in favor of ICE or the Iran war, or against universal healthcare and taxing the uberwealthy, so it just annoys me when his ads tout his bog-standard positions there as if they were unique). I don't see that he has been a victim of "Islamophobia" so much as accurate observation: just like every Christian is one of THOSE Christians (see Talarico for example, or for that matter Biden and Buttigieg) not every Muslim is one of THOSE Muslims (Mamdani has been a strong LGBTQ ally for example), but in El-Sayed's case he has imbibed the antisemitism and misogyny to levels I am not comfortable with, even if he is far from being an Ayatollah. His campaign to me really has sounded like "she's pro-Israel where I'm comfortable with wiping them from the face of the Earth, and she's a woman so the decades of work she has done must not really have amounted to anything."
How is Bill Maher newsworthy? He’s not HL Mencken or William Allen White or IF Stone. He smokes pot and runs his mouth and charges fo it. He acts like he is so cool because he smokes pot. I went to middle school with guys like that. They weren’t, and he isn’t.
