A legit issue, even if phrased snarkily. Storage tech is improving. The other sources mentioned in the charts at Vox - geothermal, hydroelectric, and don't forget nuclear (which isn't going away anytime soon) - are constant sources that can help smooth things out. As long as we remember that no single power source is a universal panacea so we need a little of everything, we'll be OK.
Oh, and put your damn TV and computer on power strips so you can turn them OFF when you're not using them, OK? (grin)
I can certainly understand why you want to drive down to the scenic Arbuckle Mountains, but if you really want to get your wind-farm Jones on, drive out to the Panhandle. It's like a wind-farm-o-rama. out there.
The thing that makes me the most hopeful is research into GMO crops (corn, wheat, soybeans, etc) that will suck extra CO2 out of the atmosphere and store it in their roots. You know all that farmland we've got, like enough to cover several states ... ? We can turn all that surface area into carbon-scrubbing biological machinery. We were going to grow crops anyway, so this doesn't even involve much of a change of plans.
That's great, in Australia the climate denialist government ran a scare campaign saying electric vehicles would mean no such vehicles, pity they won election. The most obvious evidence of climate change at the moment is that deciduous Trees in South Australia have not properly lost their leaves yet, they should have lost them 2 months ago.
we're having the same issue in Ohio. It's gonna be bad. There's a produce stand that sets up in the parking lot of a tiny strip mall every summer, run by a local farm, and here we are on June 18th and they haven't even set up yet.
I disagree with that. China's been run by old men since Deng Xiaoping's time and they seem to be doing all right.
1860. Since then, not so much.
Google is buying up the Cuyama Valley for the water rights. As a beard, they'll pllant vineyards.
People not familiar with the industry might not know that "photovoltaic" pertains to solar energy.
Seriously. Global famine is a serious problem and so is climate change? Kinda feels like a win/win.
Not scared of the W. Cancer?
HAL?

That's partly a product of how water rights are done in the state. Forget it, it's Chinatown.
Oh really?! Do you recommend any particular spot for camping?

Huh, an Electricamino, eh? Watta concept!
fields of that corn/beans/wheat, as far as the eye can see, with a turbine in the middle of it. That's your green future, as far as I'm concerned.
