So she's both too MAGA and not MAGA enough?

Well, gee, who put her behind that eight-ball?

Ta, Gary. Maria Elvira Salazar will never have to concern herself with healthcare; she's been in Congress long enough to be covered *for life* with a level of care the rest of us (the proletariat in the Wonkettariat) can only dream of having for ourselves. I doubt Telemundo would have her back; she's aged out. I hope the fucking leopards eat her fucking face, and I dearly hope she loses her seat in Congress. What a POS.

Pretty interesting that nobody mentions Salazar's Democratic opponent this fall - Elliot Rodriguez, who checks as many boxes as Salazar ever did - He's the son of Cuban immigrants, while Salazar calls herself the daughter of Cuban "exiles". He has spent years as a journalist and news anchor at Miami's CBS station ( i.e. English language ), while Salazar was a news anchor at the Spanish language Telemundo and Univision.

There's more - but it's important to say that the most recent polling in Florida's District 27 ( two different polls ) have Salazar and Rodriguez tied up at 45% each. No wonder Salazar is looking for any way to enhance her chances of beating Rodriguez by trying to memory-hole her Trumpist past ( or for that matter, her Trumpist present, except for this immigration "disagreement" - She's still voted the party line all year.

"Trump announced Friday that all 50 states will join in on a program set to provide Most Favored Nation pricing to some drugs within the Medicaid program, bringing the net price of selected drugs down to prices paid in certain other countries.

“This one thing alone should win us the midterms,” Trump told reporters.

The true cost of the claimed savings is unclear since few details of the deals struck by the Trump administration and participating pharmaceutical companies have been made public, making it hard to independently verify the projected savings."

Mike Minogue, the guy who wants to be the CEO of Massachusetts Inc. wants to "run the state like a business". He also identifies as a Repunk. Given that in MA, "Unenrolled" is more common than either Dem or Repunk, this seems like just another stupid decision by a rich Repunk businessman who thinks that having made a pile of money selling the company he ran to J&J means he's smart in every other way.

Sherry's avatar

See also Meg Whitman. Running a business and the government are two very VERY different things and this guys stupidity and arrogance should automatically disqualify him.

When anyone says, "Run like a business" always think "Enron". Or possibly "Theranos".

Hops: grrr mad's avatar

He'll be crushed.

Too bad, so sad.

My 85 year-old mom, a lifelong Republican until she saw the light (and fell in love) with then-Senator Obama, lives in Rep. Salazar's district. She saw the ad and texted that if the Cubans in that district re-elect Salazar, then they are too stupid for their own good and, on principle, should be deported back to Cuba where they won't be allowed to vote against their self interests (or any interests, for that matter) anymore.

I know it's not the biggest thing, but I would like to return to the days when it was a deal breaker for a congressional candidate to call a reporter "a little dork" for no apparent reason. This outrage poker ("I see your "little dork" and I'll raise you with a "maniac leftist"") all the time just dehumanizes everyone exposed to this rhetoric. Demand your MOC be better than that.
