It has been a day. After what felt like a rushed transfer from the hospital to the rehab hospital yesterday (rushed in the sense that I had little warning), today was evaluations for physical therapy. And a much-appreciated visit from my brother.
And the first onslaught of feelings. I cried while waiting in the rehab gym. Everything finally hit for the first time since Tuesday how different things are now.
(Also, getting comfortable? Next to impossible at the moment.)
I am hoping that once I can get approved for a lightweight chair that moving will be easier. But at this moment, I have no idea.
I’m putting this out there, and feel free to DM me: Fellow amputees, what was your early experience like? What made it easier on you? What I have learned so far seems like a drop in the ocean of what I will learn eventually.
