So many people are suffering because this administration wants them to suffer. And they impose this suffering on people who have nothing and left their only homes for want of a better safer life for themselves and their children. I hang on to the hope that what we're doing is so shockingly awful that it changes us for the better for a long time to come. This small hope doesn't help anyone currently being punished by our cruelty so there is no comfort in this hope. But I'm still stupidly optimistic enough to hope this backfires spectacularly on the cruel bastards who think they will get away with this. That would truly make America great again.
It's not just to Trump. It's the entire mindset if the xenophobic, paranoid right. It's also not just immigrants. A lot of them have been steadily putting anyone to the left of themselves into the animal, parasite, infestation, demon category for years. Most if it is driven by the religious right and their language of demon possession, anti-christ, and spiritual warfare.
<3 <3 I'm from the little town near the airport and it's always 10 degrees cooler there. I miss it like crazy, miss the ocean and the breeze. I hate living land-locked near Lowell. I would LOVE to see a dark night sky.
This is absolutely horrible. And because I'm Australian, I find it particularly horrible since the Trump administration in the U.S. is copying what Australia has been doing for a long time now. Our former P.M. John Howard initiated what he called the "Pacific Solution", which essentially was tossing asylum seekers into prison on remote islands and leaving them there to rot indefinitely -- the children also. And it involved what amounted to bribing tiny, impoverished island states like Nauru to ignore their own regulations for that purpose. Calling that policy "unethical" and "inhumane" would be spinelessly mild. Journalists, no-one will be surprised to hear, were not allowed to go there and examine the conditions unless muzzled. We may have been allies for a long time, and I know we Aussies are inventive, but trust me … this is not an invention of ours it'd be good for any nation's soul to copy.
I volunteer at my local Girl Guides and we have a three day activity get-away each summer in a big local rural house. It's a headache trying to sort out dietary requirements, allergies, making sure any girls with asthma have their inhalers. This is only a few miles from their homes and I can call their parents if anything happens. This is what it's like looking out for twenty or so kids who speak English and if they really want to go home then they can.I can't imagine what those poor detainees are going through. There's no way those kids are not going to be traumatized and something is going to go wrong. There already isn't enough space to detain them, can't imagine there's enough people to properly take care of them. What is happening there is so, so horrible.
DITTO!!!!

They won't deport them as long the private prisons can profit off keeping the kids locked up.
:D

No one is a real person to Trump. That's why he can say anything. He only hears applause and cheers with disses in the background faintly.
You know there's an old Big Maceo song 32:20 that has that playhouse line in it . Upvote for blues song reference.
For no particular reason . . . .

Now I wish I HAD gone to law school, as so many of the attorneys I worked with thought I should.
Fuck nazis, fuck ICE, and fuck this administration.
Can't WAIT to hear the Right Wing Noise Machine lie and lie about how this is actually the law.
Wait, yes, I can.
