woof woof, woof woof, woof who let the dogs out?

Menotsure's avatar

As I awoke this morning

And rubbed my waking eyes

A pack of wild dog puppies

Took me by surprise

The number was quite large

And I was set aback

By the thought of having to

Provide them all with snacks.

Mommy herding puppers would be like if I had to herd cats. It's hard work but fun! Stay safe this weekend, Martini!

last week I was at a Smithsonian training for an exhibit reopening which will include play/creating art. I had a wild dog figure!!! I made it a home from river stones and wood.

Also the brainwashed kids from bumfuck wherever were in DC yesterday in preparation for the March for “life”. Big security fence was going up along the Mall

Had a German Shepherd named Duchess growing up that'd have 10 or 12 pups and by the time they were 8 weeks old her teats would be raw. She'd be just like this bitch, moving 24/7 to keep the leeches from latching on.

So I've heard. Now I'm interested enough to do some homework.

I vaguely remember a story I read about an evil man forced by his enemies to run and run and run from wild dogs. An apt punishment.

Wait a minute...

1) It’s January dumbass.

2)Global warming is an average of a few degrees warmer over decades, which yes is enough to create disaster. But an average is an average. The other term is Climate Change.

Even convicted fraudsters have a Constitutional right to stash their ill-gotten gains in the bank of their choice (according to Pam Bondi, probably.)

We actually saw African wild dogs on a recent trip to Botswana, they are rare but coming back. Good to see a nice litter of them!

Local weather report: 45.6F, feels like 44.29F, with 96% humidity and visibility of 6.2 miles. Should read a high of 53F this afternoon, with warmer weather rolling in this weekend (47F low, 64F high). Time to put on the light jacket and brace for overcast skies and the threat of banana slugs, folks!

Every once in a while, we decide in this here household to watch something that sounds like it is going to be awful. So last night we watched the first episode of "The Beauty." Right after the first supermodel explodes, I say to myself, and to my wife, "Self and wife, this is about sex rabies, isn't it? A big old sex AIDS rabies done bit her." (okay, actually, I said "Oh god, this is going to be some sort of AIDS rabies, isn't it?" She (the wife, referenced earlier) laughed at me and said "That's just stupid."). And lo and behold, it was the HIV sex rabies. So I was at least partly right. Do I need to watch a second episode to figure out what happens to the dead kid from American Horror Story and the British woman from somewhere else who looks kind of like H.G. Wells from "Warehouse 13?" Or should I look for something else that sounds like it is going to be awful to watch?

INFO update! 8:35 AM 1/23/26. Warmed up to -26 F! The BLUE JAYS and DOWNEY WOODPECKERs are all FLOOFED to twice their normal size. There is a moisture wraith from the spillway below the dam. Ice has formed a shell on the water still flowing. Thinking back to the late 50s early 60s. The BAKERY relied on PROPANE for the ovens. When it got down below -20 the 500 gallon tanks (2) couldn't produce enough pressure even for a PILOT LIGHT! (Remember them?) I was tasked to place a small pan of glowing charcoal beneath to keep the show on the road. (I like mixing metaphors!)

Just in case you haven't seen this list a gazillion time already, here are the fascist-loving bootlicker Dems that, once again, shot Democracy in the face and gave the fascists their Ameros:

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX)

Rep. Don Davis (D-NC)

Rep. Laura Gillen (D-NY)

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA)

Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME)

Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX)

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY)

And add Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-PAB's asshole) for just cruising along while the country burns.

Pexas Teat's avatar

Jared Golden is such a perennial disappointment. Glad he's retiring. The primary to replace him is quite a strong field among the Democrats.

I know this might be a weird question, but given what I’m dealing with right now, does anyone have any idea where I could share a GFM page?

The really weird thing? I’m out of work for a longer period for having a toe removed due to infection than I was for having strokes. It’s a wee bit messed up, methinks.

Sister Artemis's avatar

Just so you know, I did get an email from your gfm this morning (pitched you a few more ameros too), so hopefully that will help.

The usual haunts for gfm's are faceborg and other social media (bluesky, mastodon, Instagram, etc) so I assume you've covered those. If your community (geographic or affiliated peeps) has Facebook/whatever groups, that would be another avenue.

You might change up the photo, just to catch peoples eye - if you an; not sure how gfm works.

rawrtigerlily's avatar

Agreed. It’s so weird how these congresspeople always claim they are just doing what their constituents want, but then the polling now has ICE with a 19% approval rating.

Are we supposed to believe that 19% of pro ICE people are in the districts of these cowards?

I don’t buy it.

This was a decisive moment for the democratic caucus to draw a bold line in the sand for constitutional rights. Jefferies and these shitters have failed the moment and need to go.

Axe grinding follows:

I’m watching news and analysis more and more on YouTube. Oh, did we know that “none/no particular religion” is now the one-quarter plurality of Americans. (Yes, of course we did.) No religious group is as big. Fuck you and your “it’s a Christian nation.”

The United Methodist Church, which became “United” when it joined with two batshit crazy evangelical sects around 1970, has dropped from 11 million to 5.5 million members since then.

The poli sci professor/pastor/author of “The Nones” notes that churches can involve faith *and* service missions. Hey there, fuck all y’all dumbshit assholes who decided to burn down your church because IT’S ALL ABOUT FAITH … BY OUR RULES. You deserve what you chose.

PS: I propose a litmus test for Supreme Court justices. What is supreme in the U.S. justice system: faith, or law? There is ONE right answer.

I'm a lifelong Unitarian and those nutters don't even think we're a religion.

We are, sort of, but just the one that has a lot of atheists and exceptionally free-thinking, principled people. There is zero room in a government's laws for any religion, period..
