Not to mention a number of female characters impersonating men as an essential part of Shakespeare's plots.

Back in junior high, my bestie (who is still my friend; we met age 12) was the most fashionable girl in school. She played upon her parents' guilt about their divorce, and had one relative with enough money to buy her the best, which she manipulated shamelessly. She wrote the fashion column in the school paper, of course.

My ridiculous mother accused said friend (not to her face of course) of being a transvestite when she saw her fabulous pantsuit (pinstripe grey flannel).

Idaho, grow the fuck up.

Yeah, and they'd give her shit for being in a "masculine" occupation. Something something feminization of the military blah blah.

"...claiming that drag is by nature a "sexual" performance, which is bullshit..."

Apply Wingnut filter, and the connection is crystal clear. Remember they see having a vagina as an inherently sexual act.

Makeup and fancy clothes take it up a notch - they're inherently provocative. They Advertise the Goods. People they perceive as Woman certainly aren't going to all that trouble and expense to feel fancy, or show off to her girlfriends, or have fun with pretty stuff!

Nope, it's a blatant sexual invitation. And it's aimed at HIM, Mr. Cletus Q. Dipshit Esquire.

That's right, ladies, every single one of us has carefully studied the tastes and dislikes of Mr. Dipshit, and arrayed ourselves in our finest feathers with the sole aim of winning his notice and approval. Because what higher prize exists, huh?

Drag confuses and upsets poor Cletus, because here's a bevy of beauties in the most spectacular feathers imaginable and he doesn't want to have sex with a single one of them. Or maybe he does and that's even worse, because they have dicks. This is far too much for Clet- uh, children. Yeah, children.

TL,DR; Fuckfaces think lots of makeup means the wearer is screaming, "Come fuck me nasty!". Drag performers wear lots of makeup. Therefore, drag shows for kids = blatant solicitation of minors.

Are you telling me that's not a drag name??

It's OK as long as Men in Dresses are the butt of the joke.

We nicknamed our son "slug" because he couldn't get up and was always moist. By five years, he was so gorgeous and fun, we decided to have a second kid. Alas, the gorgeous fun stage didn't make it past middle school.

Dok, I admire your tenacity.......I was born in Rupert, grew up in Fruitland/Ontario area. Joined the Air Force, and departed on my 18th birthday back in 72'. My brother, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles all live in the Treasure Valley.....mostly Boise. I now live in Thailand and watch this insanity from afar.........Idaho, is indeed, a great place to be FROM!

I understand there is a contingent in Iran that will be happy to give pointers on how to implement such policies.

Blaine's a girl's name. Also they're cheating by putting another picture of Blaine in the audience.

This sort of worry is exactly why I was happy Catholics never had to read the bible.

What is most interesting to me about this is that the more these crackpots do to outlaw freedom of expression and criminalize trans kids, their families and doctors, the more organizations are contacting my son to come to their meetings to give trainings on how to include and protect trans kids in schools and the greater society. He says he just can't keep up with the requests. He just did a workshop a couple days ago with a judges' conference in Portland, today has one in Seattle and leaves Monday for Tacoma to do another one. He has met with everyone from school districts to ministers (including evangelicals, which as you can imagine, made him very nervous, but it went well). Also, proud mother that I am, I am now allowed (by him because he's out of town, and what can he do?) to tell you that his book Trans Children in Today's Schools (Aidan Key) went to the publisher in its final form a few weeks ago and is available for preorder on Amazon or Oxford University Press. It won't be out until March, as I understand it, but hey, nothing will stop a determined mom from bragging on "My son, the author". Right?

Along these lines, I have to say drag queens, but particularly trans women can, teach all of us cis women a thing or two about how to look gorgeous. Cletus be damned. He can go whine to his incel buddies.
